Anon, I think she looks cute too with the short hair. She looks adorable either way, but yes. That being said, I definitely think they've avoided it because it's such a massive spoiler. I really cringed when I saw that they'd released a WEDDING set of Rapunzel and Flynn in 2010, but she had her long hair in it.

My hope is that they release a short-haired doll in tandem with the Tangled Ever After short. I really want one. ♥

I doubt it'll ever happen. The long hair to too recognizable. Plus, wouldn't it kind of give away the ending?

They MIGHT make one special one. Honestly OP let's look at most merchandise. BatB? Human Beast? Rarely. Little Mermaid? Largely Mermaid Ariel. Those aspects of the character are the biggest part of the character.

There are actually a lot of dolls released of human Ariel, and as far as images go in the princess line, it's about half and half mermaid/human.

Most BatB dolls of Beast have a 'mask' for his Beast form, but the doll itself is human.

A big part of playing with dolls for me when I was little was brushing and styling their hair. I probably wouldn't have been interested in a doll with short hair and I'm assuming market research has shown this to be the case for lots of little girls, which is why most dolls have long hair.

I thought the same thing. Without the long hair she's not recognizable as Rapunzel. I mean, she only has the short hair for what, three small scenes? I did think it was a lot cuter short, but I definitely understand them not marketing it.

It probably would have gotten them a lot of flack to release a doll with short brown hair, since it would give away the ending. With next year's short film, they might release something with her short hair, since that'll be her look for the wedding. In the meantime, you could always buy a brunette Barbie, cut her hair and put the Rapunzel dress on her...

Judging by the terrifying number of women (teenagers and upwards) who seemed to think Flynn was a jerk for daring to cut her pretty hair to save her from a lifetime of imprisonment or should have somehow cut her hair more neatly and at a lower point (never mind that it wouldn't have been taut enough if he hadn't cut it fairly close to her scalp), I'm guessing there are a lot of people out there who prefer Rapunzel with long hair.

For the record, I think she looks lovely with both! :)

Can you please, please, please stop putting graphics in the middle of your text when you make secrets? It's so fucking hard to read. I don't know about anyone else, but when I come a cross these, I read straight down in a column first because that's how I would read this if it appeared in a newspaper or magazine, only to get garbled nonsense. Seriously, I read "I thought her really pretty, that version legitimate" before realizing that the doll cut through the text and that wasn't just some sort of odd coded message.

It's okay to have all of your text off to one side, guys. It really is.

I'm with you on the desire for a brunette, short-haired Rapunzel doll, though not because I like that hair better. I do, but that's not the reason. I want one because that's how she's supposed to look in her happily ever after, and while in-movie Rapunzel is adorable, I'd like to have the happier, mostly danger-free version gracing my desk beside Flynn.

I would have liked her doll to have the option for short or long hair. I remember this doll I used to play with in the 80's/90's that would 'grow' its hair out when you turn one of its arms down and then the other arm would make it short.

I'm sure they could figure out something since they have colour changing hair dolls and masks and whatever.

I also like her short hair and when she had the braid =) It was cute. And I liked her dress at the end because it fit her better hehe.

Yeah, well, she's still supposed to represent rapunzel whose main aspect is her super long hair. If she doesn't have it, she's just another generic doll.

It's all about the money that they can make. Young girls who never saw the movie will still want to buy the doll, because they know it's Rapunzel. But if they made the doll with short hair, that would narrow the market to only girls who had seen the movie.

This is something I would love!!! she looked so much better in the short brown hair than in the long blonde. I get what some of the others are saying with the spoiler aspect, but perhaps make it so that she can change between short and long. After all, if you are buying a doll from the movie I would hope you had seen it first.
