Have you ever had sex? I mean all we do is talk about other stuff, how he needs to move his knee or how that angle isn't doing it for either of us - or how I need to remember to feed the dog when we're finished. "represent real experiences to a degree".... does not necessarily mean flat-out realistic. The smut I read/write certainly isn't 100% realistic. I think, though, that most of the smut I've read has some dialogue during sex, which indicates that most people seem to prefer it because it is realistic and IC for characters to do.

That kinda sounds condescending to me. It's not so much they compared real to fictional life, but the fact that they expect everyone else's experience to mirror theirs and dismiss anything else as wrong or born out of ignorance.

Not everyone in the world is having your sex so there's no point in speculating about the OP's sex life, especially based on just their kink preferences.
Some people love to talk all through sex (about everything from how good it feels to what's on TV tonight), some people find it distracting and only talk when they need to.
