All the ones after Book 3 bored me. I just didn't care enough about the characters to keep going when the plot got complicated, and the later ones weren't fun to read if you really didn't care about the plot.

[identity profile] mskye.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
That's fine. Everyone has different taste.

[identity profile] havemy-heart.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I read the first five and then got bored. I still haven't read the last two and I just don't care.

Good for you, you special snowflake.

Yep, I feel the same way, OP. I couldn't get into the books or the movies.

[identity profile] aetter.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
This secret bores me.

[identity profile] lolofielding.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay not to like things (you know the drill).

[identity profile] malik-chan.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, okay. Twilight bores me, not that big a deal.

[identity profile] rattyrayvn.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I struggled through the last two just so I could say I'd read them all.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-27 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
I find this series really boring, too. It's not bad, I can see the appeal behind it, I just not to my tastes. The books in particular take far too long to get anywhere and once they do, I can't bring myself to care anymore.

[identity profile] hunter-san.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
IA. The fandom is so much more ~fun~

[identity profile] vivi314.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
i half-agree

like, i enjoyed them as a kid and can still appreciate the world-building
but now i didn't even have the motivation to watch the last movies haha. i guess pottermania isn't for everyone?

[identity profile] sparklywalls.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I read them recently after getting bored of people saying over and over again I needed to read them and ZOMG HOW HAVE YOU NOT as though I didn't have loads of other stuff I found more important at the time. Anyway I wouldn't say they bored the shit out of me, they were quite fun...but around the book 5 mark I started thinking "wtf is this shit?" with increasing regularity and even though I can see why people like them I've no desire to read them again.

I just hated people essentially saying I couldn't call myself a fantasy fan without having read them (actual argument used by someone!) and also cos I was born in 1985, apparently I'm supposed to be in the "Harry Potter generation" so people thought I was kidding when I said this year was the first time I've read them.

[identity profile] sylva-rerum.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
*shrugs* To each their own. Not everyone has to like them, so it's fine if you don't.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-27 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Watch out, we got a badass over here.

[identity profile] making-excuses.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
All I could think of was "damn I want that HP book set thingy", like seriously, my books don't fit together, neither of my versions and half of them are falling apart, and when I finally got around to start buying new books they changed the covers...

/pointless rant

Anyway, everyone can't like the same stuff, personally I don't like Lord of the Rings and Narnia, I don't care if anyone likes it, nor if anyone don't like what I like...

(Anonymous) 2011-12-27 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I started reading the books to bond with my younger family members but the books ended up annoying me too much to keep reading. I was a hundred pages into the fifth before I gave up.

[identity profile] kyogres.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
How many have you read? I'm not saying that you have to read a certain number before forming an opinion. I'm just curious because the first three books bored me to death, but I really loved 4, 5, and 6.

[identity profile] murderershair.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Is this a major problem for you? I mean, are all your friends Potter fans? I feel like being bored and neutral about a popular thing isn't nearly as annoying (for both parties) as vehemently disliking it.

The only one that absolutely, completely bored me out of my mind was Deathly Hallows. I kind of feel like a bad fan for not liking that book. /:

You are so unique, Op.

Like seriously.

[identity profile] swaggerdoodle.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not alone, OP. I've tried reading the books and watching the movies several times. I just can't get into them. I don't think that's a crime or anything. /shrug
