The fic in question: Below Skyscrapers (http://deancastiel.livejournal.com/1849863.html) - Cas is a total badass. And pretty cranky. It's awesome.

Also, I forgot about these, but there's this fic (http://deancas-xmas.livejournal.com/43885.html) (Dean and Cas are both cops) and this one (http://deancastiel.livejournal.com/2772900.html#cutid1) (Prohibition-era fic where Cas is a PI & ex-cop and Dean is a former bootlegger) as well. Both are excellent.

*drools* Yes, omg, yes. That sounds amazing. Why aren't there more fic like this? Omg, I'd be on that like white on rice. Guh.

I'd also like to see a White Collar!AU. FBI-agent!Cas + Art-thief/fraud/etc!Dean.

...or vice versa.

There's one where Cas is an ex-soldier (marine I think?) FBI agent and Dean is a 5th grade teacher with a engineering degree. I haven't read it, but it looks good.

OP thanks you for your recommendation, but the story is too filled with expository au background to be worth slogging through to the plot -- if it every winds up getting to the plot.
