can someone rec me a really great tv show to marathon? i've had millions of things on my radar for the longest time, but there are so many now that it's hard to just pick one and go with it. i don't care about how many seasons it's got, or what genre it is, or how long ago it aired or how new it is or if it's critically acclaimed or not. just as long as you like it and think i should like it too :)

An anon after my own heart! I adore that show. Sadly, this is my only pseudo-relevant icon.

oh, i remember watching that everyday after school! that was the best. i'll try to see if i can find it and marathon it for old times' sake, thanks! :)

If you like animation, I highly recommend Avatar: The Last Airbender. I marathoned it somewhat recently, and I fell in love with it all over again.

I've just started Once Upon A Time. I'm only up to episode 7, but it doesn't suck so far!

I am in love with White Collar, and have just started to watch Psych. Both have amazing characters with decent plot-lines.

If you haven't watched yet, these are all awesome: Arrested Development, The IT Crowd, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (really crass but the humor grows on you), and Community.

Sorry...these are probably too many suggestions and doesn't actually help your problem in choosing predicament, but there you go anyway.

I marathoned Community this October and it's so hilarious and easy to get through. Currently I'm doing an out of order Criminal Minds marathon, based off of some recs I got a couple of days ago (http://fandomsecrets.livejournal.com/850905.html?thread=527976665#t527976665), and it's really addicting if you are into crime dramas. If you get the channel USA, they usually do Law & Order:SVU or NCIS marathons daily, and I find SVU a really great show to watch in bulk and a good friend of mine does the same with NCIS (SVU is also available on Netflix Instant Watch). I'm also going through all of My Little Pony:FiM right now, but I can only watch like three/four episodes of that at a time, so IDK if it's a good marathon show, but it's cute and fun and if you can marathon bright kids' show I recommend it.

The Tribe. Its about children living in a world where a virus killed all the adults. It was five seasons long and each season was 52 episodes.

Outrageous Fortune is on netflix. I loved it.

Or if you want something newer I'm a huge fan of Jane by Design. Its 10 episodes so far with the newer episodes coming on this summer.

Bomb Girls! It's a Canadian show that just aired S1, set in a bomb factory at the start of WW2. It's amazing.

The Vampire Diaries.

Ignore the really sometimes-skeevy marketing the CW does (which initially put me off, because I don't find oiled up people all that attractive) and make it through the inevitably lame pilot episode, and seriously the show is more addictive than crack.

Shows I always feel like watching another episode after I’ve finished watching:

Miniseries:
From Earth to the Moon
Band of Brothers

Sci-fi:
Stargate: Atlantis

Comedy:
Newsradio
Titus
Sports Night

British Comedy:
As Time Goes By
Coupling
Top Gear (I know it seems like an informational show about cars, but trust me, it’s comedy)

Xena, either as a rewatch, or a first time deal, depending on if you ever saw it when it was on air. :3

I've been rewatching it and I'm LOVING IT~!! Cheese, camp, and all~!!

Second on Community and Stargate Atlantis. They're both very good, light-hearted shows. Better Off Ted is on Netflix and it is hilarious.

[identity profile] cysfics.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Pushing Daisies is a favorite of mine.

[identity profile] twilightedge.livejournal.com 2012-03-08 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
LOST (can watch on Netflix)
Once Upon A Time (still airing)
Avatar: The Last Airbender (can watch on Netflix)
HIMYM (Netflix - it's kinda dorky at first because Barney is a total sleeze but I like that the other characters don't indulge him haha, so there's that)
Boy Meets World (the best)
Batman: The Animated Series
Face Off (just a fun reality show about movie makup artists and their challenges)
Project Runway
X-Men: The Animated Series (90's version, also on Netflix)
Firefly (Netflix)
Big Bang Theory (I like the earlier seasons better but most of it's funny)
Arrested Development (Netflix, hilarious)
IT Crowd
The Office (Netflix, earlier seasons I like the best)
Parks and Recs (Netflix, and it's hilarious too)
Hey Arnold
Young Justice
The Vampire Diaries (netflix, I haven't seen the other seasons but I really like season 1)
Samurai Champloo (Netflix)
Weekenders
King of the Hill (Netflix)
Futurama (Netflix)

I have a lot of anime shows I like but those are mostly online since they haven't been brought over to the states yet, or are rather old.
Mawaru Penguindrum
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Vision of Escaflowne
Sailor Moon
DBZ
Ronin Warriors
Magic Knight Rayearth (the manga is better though but it's still a good anime)
Noir
Cowboy Bebop (same creators of Samurai Champloo)
Gundam Wing, or any other Gundam series, depending on your tastes. =)

I'm also watching quite a few anime shows right now so I'll have to get back to you on what I've finished before I recommend it.

Anyways, I hope this has helped. I like looking for new shows to marathon too. =D

My current (/this year) roster:

BREAKING BAD (the rest are in no particular order but this is absolutely at the top of the list)
Community
Happy Endings
Parks and Recreation
Mad Men
Game of Thrones
Revenge
30 Rock
Up All Night
Suburgatory
Raising Hope
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Cougar Town
RuPaul's Drag Race
The Vampire Diaries

+

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Firefly
Curb your Enthusiasm
Due South
Battlestar Galactica
Arrested Development
Avatar: The Last Airbender

and the one in my icon is quite short and now canceled, but it is called Sirens and it's very cute.

The Prisoner. The 1967 series, not the more recent miniseries.
