Very true. But OP sounds like she's only interested in the money aspect here. The bad thing about that though, in THIS movie, that wealth comes with a douchbag of epic proportions, so....does all that wealth and fame and such mean more to her than the possibility of being hurt, both physically and emotionally?

I guess if she'd given more than just "wealth!! YES YES YES!!", I'd give her more and not look at her in pity. :/

I know it's her choice, but why put herself through that? It all seems so counterproductive in the end to me.

Molly Brown was only nice because she was 'new money', not an aristocrat. She was considered uncultured and lower-class by the 'true' aristocrats, and was thus portrayed as honest and virtuous. Mr Andrews was a 'good' character, I concede that point.

Have you watched the film recently...? Because really, only Cal is seen as "evil". Ismay is depicted as pushy and selfish, but not evil. The rest are pretty much nice people. I have no idea what you're basing your opinion on.

Yes, I watched it a few weeks ago, which is how I developed my opinion. I was exaggerating a little in my comment, of course. Aside from Cal, the aristocratic characters are obviously not Voldemort-evil. It is clear, however, that none of the aristocrats save Rose are meant to be likeable, sympathetic, or morally virtuous at all, while all of the prominent 'poor' or 'new money' characters are depicted as sympathetic. It all comes across as a little forced and biased, to me.

Feminism is the ideal that women can be whoever they want to be and whatever they want to be. If a female wants to be a kept woman who lives in the lap of luxury then that's her every right. The only way she is anti-feminist if she believes that that should be the ONLY place/role for women.

There are few things that irritate me more than someone going on about how women should be free to choose the lifestyle that that particular person wants for herself, but NOT to choose any lifestyle that that person doesn't want, or disapproves of. Like that makes you any different from any other oppressor in history. Sharing a gender doesn't mean you get to dictate and no one can complain!

People like you are why I never say aloud "I'm feminist". Because so many of you have caused this stigma by being so hypocritical. You claim to value a woman's choice above all but look down on her for choosing something that you find unacceptable. That's no better than the men who feel like women shouldn't have a choice to do certain things either. If you try to take away a woman's choice, whatever choice that may be, then ~you~ are anti-feminist.
