Seriously, it's not the same. There's no such thing as heterophobia. And being told 'you're a bigot because you don't like slash' is rude, yes, but it doesn't belong in the same galaxy as the very real consequences of homophobia.

Maybe you weren't meaning to compare the two, and that's why I asked you to clarify, but it really sounds like you're saying that there's such a thing as straight bashing, and that, while less serious as gay bashing, it's a problem to be fought.

And a few others where the majority suddenly feels threatened because one minority is asking for equality. Doesn't make them a problem.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-14 01:34 am (UTC)(link)I'm "on your ass" about it because randomly linking to a website that can be edited by practically anyone isn't exactly a persuasive argument. Like, at all.

It's hardly random when it's the entire fucking subject. Is it so hard to use critical thinking on F!S?
That's rhetorical, since I know there's going to be some dumbass who actually tries to answer it.

What. The. Actual. FUCK!?

While they might not need to worry about it (unless you're on say, Tumblr), that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
You're comparing gay people getting beaten (sometimes to death) to straight people getting called homophobes on Tumblr. One of these things is not like the other.

Sometimes I wonder if it's less heterophobia and more lack of interest in relationships that involve women.
So much of fandom is about male/male relationships, which is great in a way because it's supporting homosexuality and it's still hard to be homosexual out in the real world. I like that part about fandom.
Yet homosexuality isn't just about men, so it's not just supporting/protecting the homosexuals because there's little to no mention of women and women are also gay.
There's a really tiny amount of fic about bisexuals too. I am offtopic and need my own secret, clearly.
