It's not inherently defensive but the tone can be. In this comment, for example. When the reaction seems antagonistic to a degree unwarranted by the original statement, it comes off as defensive.

Really? I would translate that from you. There are many different people telling anon the same thing, and it's relevant to what anon is saying.

Rather than address OP, you read into what they are saying and address them, seemingly because you don't want to believe so many people are interpreting that when someone ruins their life via hobby, it's their fault. Could be for any number of reasons.

I have literally no feelings about this topic whatsoever. honestly I'm bummed that my drive-by comment is getting all the anon rage and not, like, my post about Arcade or something.

i would probably say that some of these anons are getting defensive as well, but with my experience on this comm, i have to admit that they're probably not, because they have this reaction to practically everything. so it's more like they're addicted to pointless wanking and blaming.
