what third world country were you living in where you had zero internet access for two years?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-19 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
thank you.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I saw that.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Why can't someone "know" the movie characters without reading the comics?

They're kind of, you know, different characters.

Korra is set in a more technologically advanced society, so obviously it's going to feel different. I rather like the more steampunk feel but this is definitely a case of ymmv, OP.

I'm right there with you, OP, in not really ever crushing on "traditionally handsome" men. My taste tends to be a little weird, but my perception of what is beauty in a man is very real to me, and I recognize that we each have preferences.

I've never been sniped at because of it, though. I'm really sorry that's happened to you. I don't know why some people act that way =/

[identity profile] the-glow-worm.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. ASOIAF is a "conventional" fantasy series in a very elaborate and clever disguise. It's still going to be excellent.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I always romance Garrus, but when I watched this scene I seriously considered going with Traynor for a playthrough :)

Uh..the USA, haha.

Seriously this reply is perfect.

You know, sometimes I'm not so sure. S: I think it depends on the circle of bronies.

How about "who has that sort of money?" Not all of the books are released as trade paperbacks.

Conversely women are more likely to look at a man's bank account to judge their worth as a mate where generally men don't.

Women and men judge each other by different standards. News at 11.

I picked it because it was a concept image. the light corrected version (http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/26200000/Legend-of-Korra-avatar-the-legend-of-korra-26292870-1280-914.jpg) would have been better, but I didn't look that far in google images. You can calm down now.

*shrugs* We went from the Wright Brothers inventing/flying the first airplane to going to the moon within 70 years, and we saw fire nation zeppelins/tanks back in A:TLA season 3. The evolution seems fast, but it's totally doable.

[identity profile] the-glow-worm.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I totally agree. What really irks me is when people try to pass themselves off as comics fans when they're not (see yesterday's secret)

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
OP here.

I don't know what's up with me cos most of the time my episodes ARE terrifying. The first time it ever happened to me it felt like I was being pinned down and attacked but I couldn't see anything, just got the feelings. However, over the years my dreams seem to have IDK bled into reality (even though they're still not obvs) to the point where it's like people or things are in the room with me. I can see them, hear them and sometimes people or things touch me.

I don't even fancy Loki that much but I'd seen The Avengers the day before and stupidly decided to sleep on my back while feeling shattered from working too much lately. Tiredness + sleeping on my back = bad combination. Kinda. This one turned out not so bad apart from the whole not being able to move shit.

[identity profile] loracarol.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
We went from the horse and buggy in the 1850's to cars being mass produced in 1914, (IIRC) it's not that implausible.

[identity profile] al28894.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
The Tortiseshell kitten.... HNGGGGGGGG!

And by the way, I've never seen a jumping spider with that kind of color combination. I would love to meet one of them one day.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Watch Alex Reads Twilight. It's close enough.

[identity profile] sparklywalls.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I have a friend who loves Twilight but who hated 50 Shades and took this piss out of it. Anything is possible!

[identity profile] myrasis.livejournal.com 2012-05-20 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Because it's fandom? Many people enjoy picking things apart to that degree, it's nothing new. I mean, that person does have a point about it being emblematic of the entire equalist/bender conflict, or at least why it came about.

There definitely is a point where it's just people looking for things to get angry at, but I don't know of that example fits.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-20 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Because they're fans, and reading too much into things is what fans do.
