The only thing that really irks me about this show isn't even an issue with the show but rather with how media recently has developed the tendency to all jump onto something as soon as it's succesful. I'm sure that happened before as well but I noticed it more lately.

Example: Twilight. It worked and suddenly we get Vampires and tragic romances about a normal girl and the mysterious guy with a dark past/secret thrown at us. It's especially frustrating if you take a look at the fantasy shelves in book stores.

Same with Sherlock Holmes, people see that it's cool again and suddenly we get Sherlock Holmes thrown at us. As long as it's good I don't mind but they tend to get meh pretty fast.

And lastly I really don't like the Americans need to take a good, foreign show and make it American. I'm not saying that is happening in Elementary since I haven't seen it thus no clue if it is similar to Sherlock but it's just a general thing I've noticed.

Definitely gonna give it a chance but yeah, I'm sceptical^^

Sherlock has always been around since the dawn of television and movies. He is the most adapted human character for those medium. (Dracula is the most non-human adapted character.)

And thing is, Moffat's Sherlock is practically a homage to the movie, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. (Take Moffat's Sherlock and put them back in Victorian times and age them about five-ten years and you would have Moffat's version.)

Watson's line of, "Now they are really going to talk," was a direct lift from the movie.

I read part of the original books but beside the Robert Dowey Jr. Sherlock movie and BBC Sherlock I'm not familiar with the adaptions. I'm aware that there are a lot of movies/TV shows about Sherlock Holmes/that are based on Holmes (ie.: House).

It's probably just a personal quirk of mine that I end up being biased when something suddenly gets all hyped up. It can be a book series/move/TV Show but also simply a concept, in that case Sherlock Holmes. I can't really explain it and it gets on my nerves but that's often the main reason why I'm really not excited about stuff until I forced myself to watch/read it. This is why so many new Sherlock adaptions in a relatively short time frame make me unexcited about it.
