Their ratings guide is also pretty vague, and it's difficult to tell what's too explicit for the M rating.

That worries me, a bunch. I don't post explicit smut to the pit, because that's just stupid - but I have posted fic that do have non-explicit sex scenes in them. The double-edged sword of vague wording is that you don't know exactly where you stand until the hammer falls on you.
