Fic feedback question

So, a friend of a friend has been begging everyone she knows for feedback on her fic, and I'm not sure what to say.

It DOES have a really interesting premise, but it's a lot darker than the source material, and I just don't think she's skilled enough to pull it off, plus it's full of spelling/grammar/punctuation errors.

I haven't said anything yet because she hasn't mentioned anything about "constructive criticism" and I have a feeling she'd be upset by anything but some variation of "this is great, keep going".

Do I just say "this is a really interesting idea" and leave it that? Or not say anything at all? I feel like there's not really a nice way to say what I actually think, and I don't want to upset her.

Why not ask her in detail what kind of feedback she's looking for and on how seriously she's taking the story? If she GENUINELY wants it to be good then you'd be doing her a favor by actually telling her in detail where it stands, but if it's just a fun project then don't bother yourself worrying about someone like that.
