In case people didn't see this (because buried on page 3 of the post)- for people who don't like the basic site style of DW and want to change it, here are links collated by majorshipper to make it look better.

Most of them were covered in that comment, but this is a link to all the Stylish userstyles for Dreamwdith (the custom icons in particular are pretty nice) and if you're interested in more then these are the userscripts that exist. You'll need Greasemonkey to use them in Firefox, but they should be easy to install with no other extentions for Chrome.

As for journal styles, for people with new ones, Dreamwidth layouts aren't bad but they are admittedly pretty limited. Again for people who are interested in setting up stuff but don't know how / haven't seen it, here's a tutorial on how to implement Livejournal layouts into Dreamwidth with Layers so that you can use the same layouts that you had there. It works pretty well!

More resources for general purposes were also collected by vickyblueeyez in this comment, so do check that out if you haven't yet.

I mean, I don't mind the move, but I'm going to have to get used to this ugly-ass gray/red color scheme. They should have just copied L J's color scheme.

Just a suggestion, but I think it'd be a good idea posting the DW move announcement (dissun: http://fandomsecrets.livejournal.com/897522.html ) in the posts you're still doing at LJ, because after today's post went up over there, I saw people who still didn't know you had planned this move for awhile, haha. Just figured it might help any other confused stragglers know what's up.

I'm really happy with how active things are. It is only the first day, but I hope FS on Dreamwidth stays this active. That was my biggest fear with the move.

I'm missing the thread tracking and the extra icons from my paid account, though. Can't afford to pay for two journals (and won't be here for anything but FS anyway), so I'll just have to deal.

I am stupidly glad for the change to DW because I have a paid acct here and can make use of ALL MINE ICONS.

(I'd been iffy about paying for LJ for a long time now, but their attitude towards people who were saying the new style caused migraines pretty much sealed the deal for me. I can deal with not having my tons of icons, although it is annoying. BUT I AM SO GLAD TO HAVE THEM BACK.)

how come people on tumblr are so much younger than the people on LJ/DW in general?

i mean i think i'm a nice median age for the two (17almost18) but a lot of people are +/- 4 years on tumblr but on LJ/dreamwidth it's suddenly most people being above 20?

it's not a bad thing i'm just wondering why this is happening

is this because LJ/DW are just older communities in terms of website?

Fic feedback question

So, a friend of a friend has been begging everyone she knows for feedback on her fic, and I'm not sure what to say.

It DOES have a really interesting premise, but it's a lot darker than the source material, and I just don't think she's skilled enough to pull it off, plus it's full of spelling/grammar/punctuation errors.

I haven't said anything yet because she hasn't mentioned anything about "constructive criticism" and I have a feeling she'd be upset by anything but some variation of "this is great, keep going".

Do I just say "this is a really interesting idea" and leave it that? Or not say anything at all? I feel like there's not really a nice way to say what I actually think, and I don't want to upset her.
