how come people on tumblr are so much younger than the people on LJ/DW in general?

i mean i think i'm a nice median age for the two (17almost18) but a lot of people are +/- 4 years on tumblr but on LJ/dreamwidth it's suddenly most people being above 20?

it's not a bad thing i'm just wondering why this is happening

is this because LJ/DW are just older communities in terms of website?

I think part of it is that LJ/DW(since the crowd is the same) are older, so you have a lot of people who started using the site in their teens and have just stuck with it. Whereas Tumblr is the new fangled thing that all the kids these days are flocking to.

That being said, it's also whoever is on your circles. My Tumblr circles are all 20's and up.

I think part of it is who you happen to interact with/what fandom(s) you're a part of. One of my past fandoms was chock full of people under eighteen, but the people I interacted with most were over twenty-five. I also think the anon above me is onto something with the coming to LJ/DW when younger and just sticking around.

DW/LJ have been here for a long time and most people who use tumblr seem to be high schoolers from what I've seen. Idk I guess because tumblr has that hipster-y feel to it that kids love these days. And plus it's image driven, to have an LJ/DW that means blogging and writing and yeah.
