You missed the rich part, btw. Notice I didn't say white people problems.
I didn't mean that problems like drama and adultery are exclusive to white people, but the book happens to be about rich white people experiencing problems, not poor non-white people experiencing problems.
IMO the people in the book came off as pretty privileged, since the time period the book is set in has non-white people who probably have bigger problems to think about than adultery (and I'm not saying they didn't have to worry about adultery and relationships drama). Of course the book is set up in such a way that there's no need to think about non-white people. I happen to think about these things even if they're not mentioned in the reading, so of course I'm a little biased. Doesn't mean I'm dismissing the actual focus of the books as irrelevant or as something to scoff at; I just pointed out what the focus of the books looks like to me, personally.
