AGREED! :) Being fluent in Japanese opens a lot of job opportunities (well in big cities anyway), so who should care where you got your passion from to learn it in the first place? Just try to shower regularly and have a wardrobe that's at least quasi-fashionable (i.e. no anime shirts or messenger bags that have "I <3 yaoi/yuri" embroidered on the front, lol).

17 -- No, I really don't think you want to unless you're using low, low doses. FOR SRS. You get dirty acid or even a little more than what you can handle, and that shit will FUCK YOU UP. If you totally insist on doing it, start playing no earlier than six hours after it's hit you -- you'll still get to test yourself, but it won't be that huge, sweeping intensity of the original high.

9. It shouldn't really matter how you acquired your love of Japan. Hell, the only reason I started to learn German and fall in love with German culture was because I really loved Rammstein. :) Anime was your gateway just like Rammstein was my gateway; nothing wrong with that!

1. I think that you need to find someone who accepts you for who you are and doesn't mind what you do. Yeah, stay away from the losers, but getting into a relationship with someone who considers you at best weird and a loser unless you change, and who at worst might use your interests in divorce court as evidence you're not a fit parent/shouldn't own your pets/should lose all your common belongings isn't exactly the best idea either. ^_^

9: You're not alone and there is NOTHING wrong with you! *hugs* You're not a stupid fanbrat, you're someone who developed a deeper interest in another culture after seeing some parts of it you like. If anything, you're an anti-fanbrat for knowing stuff about Japan and Japanese culture. As long as you understand Japan has had and will have its problems too (I recommend looking up World War 2 atrocities on Wikipedia and elsewhere for starters, they were equivalent to the Nazis at points when the fascist Imperial government was in power, and for modern issues and stuff, I highly recommend a browse around debito.org), you're perfectly OK.

As a question for everyone who's so upset at that, why don't you people get as angry at people who, say, fall in love with England and want to be British? Who first learned about the UK via BBC shows? Why don't you scream at someone whose dream it is to live in France or Australia? Because that's somehow more normal than Japan? It's somehow acceptable to show your nationalistic prejudice toward people who are interested in Japan as opposed to people interested in any other country? *headdesk*

It's sad how fans sometimes have to assume that others fit the stereotype, but it's even sadder to see how often that stereotype is true.

22: I will agree with you on this on so many levels. I've always liked Hinamori but some fics and rprs have seriously butchered her for me (I've only had one pleasant Hinamori player in games I've been in and I love her dearly for it). And there's nothing quite as frustrating as when an rp completely destroys a character for it because then it's not really the character but the player and no matter what the idea of that really bad player just sticks with the character.

I don't get into fights about it because I agree it's pointless but I have pairing preferences of characters who I have interpreted as being more likely to top most of the time (or bottom, as the case may be depending on character). I've thought about their characterizations and how I've chosen to interpret them to come to these conclusions.

How does that make me wrong or stupid?
