I would like to subscribe to this belief, because men reading my slash makes me a little uncomfortable, not gonna lie. It's like discussing any fantasy with a guy (who I am not dating or whatever); I'm okay talking about masturbation/fantasies/sex with women I know somewhat, but...guys are a different story. I wish they'd all go to a different fandom pocket.

You know case is a guy, right? Maybe you should find a different pocket?

Oh shut up. It's not like the evil men are going to jump through the computer and attack you. Men are allowed to have fantasies too. You don't get the exclusive rights to whatever fandom because of your ladybits.

If you are afraid to share your slash with half the goddamn world you have no place being a fiction writer.

Grow a pair (of ovaries) and get over it or take your stuff down.

That's deeply gender-essentialist and in a publicly accessible part of the internet it just doesn't work, because gender boundaries don't conform with reality. I'm sure it's partly just a matter of your sample pool, though; if there aren't many people you'd trust in the right way to talk about that kind of stuff, it's fairly likely that one gender will predominate right now. But having this as a set-in-stone belief is just a waste of perfectly good friendship opportunities, long-term.

I'm sorry you have issues with men.

Yeah, me too.

Those silly gays, reading things relevant to their interests.

GET OUT OF MY FANDOM SO I CAN TALK ABOUT HOW HOT YOU AND OTHER GAY MEN ARE IN THE PRESENCE OF SOMEONE WHO ISN'T A GAY MAN

Wow. That sounds really cowardly and pathetic to me.

Guess what. Men are reading your fic. Men are reading your post right now. Some of the fic you like was probably written by men. Some of the people on your dashboard or friendslist are men. Some of the people you might correspond with about fic are men. That's the reality; deal with it.

How the hell would you know, most of the time? Why is it even an issue? If you've got interests in common, then you've got interests in common, that's it, that's the important thing. It's the Internet, no one's ever even going to see you blush, much less whatever the hell you're afraid of happening. They won't even ever know your real name unless you want to tell them.

No one is going to leave the "fandom pocket" they enjoy to soothe your hangups, nor should they.
