I couldn't see it in person because atm I'm living in a country that insists on releasing the movie two months later than everyone else (grr), so I had to resort to, ah, other ways to see it. When it opens here though, I will go and see it in person.
I personally loved the movie, and can't see it tanking; it's gotten pretty good reviews, and is already expected to surpass Tangled at the box office. I think it will do pretty well once it gets released on DVD/Blu-Ray, because animation lovers love owning a copy (including yours truly).

You gotta remember, this is an animated movie (doesn't appeal to everyone by default), and it doesn't have prominent US celebrities attached to it. I'm surprised it's doing as well as it is, especially when it's going against movies like Prometheus, Magic Mike and Ted.

Agreed with all of this, because while I think the plot critiques and such are very true, I still enjoyed it a lot (it also helped that I saw it with my mother and it gave us fuzzy moments). Not up to standard Pixar quality, but I'm not going to be one of the "DOOOOOOOOM" advocates regarding that.

But ah, I have a friend who is in your same dilemma of getting it two months later. I was hoping to watch it with her while I was visiting the region. Would you mind terribly if I asked for directions to these other ways you speak of?

It seems my browser was silly and hadn't noticed I was all proper about commenting under my username, so I'll claim that comment as mine and try not to be embarrassed over not double-checking whether the internet was acting sensibly or not.

Mind you, the only copy I've seen circulating is the same copy I watched. It was recorded in cam, the movie's in 3D so it's extra blurry, the audio is awful and it has Chinese subtitles that take up a lot of space. Oh, and it's missing two scenes towards the end.
In other words, it's the lowest quality you can get. But if you're as desperate to see it as I was, then go for it. Otherwise I would wait for a better copy.

Much obliged! I'll likely take the paranoid course and download this while waiting for a better copy, but in either case, thank you. I had a hard time even finding hints of it online, so this helps a lot.
