If someone wants to provide me with free entertainment on a weekly basis, I'll give them a few bucks now and again to keep them in business, monthly budget allowing. How many webcomics do I read, and never send them money? How many vloggers do I watch, and never send them money? Lots of webcomics have tip jars or donation buttons, and provide perks like monthly wallpapers or buttons in return. I appreciate the option of being able to give money to someone providing me with entertainment. He doesn't demand it, he says "here's the donate bar, here's the PayPal button, donate if you'd like another page sooner than a week from now." And it's not a race, it steadily builds up. He doesn't say "gimme $400 dollars now or I stop updating! Muahahaha!"
He always thanks people who donate a lot (meaning more than $20.) He's polite in his discussions with fans, not arrogant or whiny at all. I see nothing wrong with this.

Are you perhaps resentful that you aren't making money doing something you love?

Have you read Artiface, anon? That was fantastic. I'm not sure where Young Protectors is going, they haven't left that alleyway yet, but I'm giving it a chance.

*Artifice. Stupid auto-correct.

I don't know about this comic and can't obviously speak for the OP, but I so detest how often this argument pops up whenever someone criticizes someone famous for their skills.

I used to as well, until I started noticing how often it was not only true, but admitted to. It's far from always true, but man does it happen.

I agree. People are happily donating week after week even though they know they could pay nothing and they'd still get updates. No one's forcing them to pay for extra pages. I wish I could do this with some of my favorite webcomics that move slowly.

I don't know how they think the art is bad either. Sure, this is a very indulgent webcomic, but I enjoy being indulged.

This.
He basically has a "tip jar" and whenever it fills up he posts an extra page. It's hardly "begging". You might think the price per extra page is really high, but a lot of comics have just a "tip jar" with no incentives, so frankly I think this is a better deal.

As for the criticism for the content of the webcomic, everyone can have their own opinion.

Lol, are you the webcomic creator or something. You,ERP posting all ove the place defending him.

Really? So anons who want to present a counterpoint can't argue their case to this secret, is that it? The creator cannot have any supporters on this site, yes?

Honestly, the comic itself isn't all that great but it's still amusing. But I don't blame the guys writing the comic for wanting to make some kind of financial gain off it, though I still think $400 is a huge goal. But, I don't see anywhere that the writer demands monetary gain from readers. It's just there. He still updates every week with or without anything going into the tip-jar. For me, there's little difference between that and a street performer with a hat out for donations.

And as someone who's heading in the way of starving artist path myself, yeah, I'm inclined to disagree with this secret. Though the writing and art, well, it's better than a lot of things I've seen but it could stand to be better.
