1. O_o

4. Post it anyway! It's fanfic, so even if you don't get it right this time (or the next time, or the next... *sigh*), there are probably still people who will enjoy it.

16. So your solution is... Dragonlance? LEARN 2 SNOB, plz.

24. Meh, I don't think he was tragic to the point that death was the only option. Diff'rent strokes, of course.

25. ... I love your handwriting D8 ♥

[identity profile] ekoko.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh good, I'm not the only one who was focusing on that. o3o;;;

[identity profile] gaignun.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
6) Xenosaga is AWESOME. It's a series like that that tends to draw me in because it just GRABS you with the characters and the development and oomph, it was totally a rollercoaster for me, too. Eeeee ♥~!!

[identity profile] quaedam.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
22. Shoujo needs moar explosions. . .I loved the characters in Marimite, but the plot (such as it was) sent me right to sleep. If people *are* going to angst over relationship issues, I like 'em to do it against the backdrop of a sun blowing up or. . .some zombies or something. ^^ (The Ouran anime OTOH I thought was awesome through and through--if something's funny that seems to make up the slack even in the absence of plots to take over the world and/or giant robots. :3)

26. Who is she? *seriously keeps meaning to get into reading Western comics*

26

(Anonymous) 2007-07-23 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Karolina Dean from Runaways. She's an alien who likes girls who is engaged to a shapeshifting (transgender?) alien named Xavin who is usually of the male persuasion, but dons a female body for Karolina's benefit. It's a little confusing but completely awesome.

#26 - I point you at the Ultimate Marvel series of comics - and Piotr "Peter" Nikolaivitch Rasputin. (It's a bit spoilery of me to say that, but it's only about five or six books in that you start Suspecting.)
And also? I agree with you. Heartily. It's so, so, true. Everyone is terribly stereotypical, and it hurts. But there you are.

[identity profile] downburst.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
16. "How about making some A Song of Ice and Fire movies instead?"

Fixed.

22. Oh god, I'm the same way :( I can watch shows like that, but they just -- bore me. ... Then again, typical shounen anime with 892752978235 episodes also tends to bore me, so lol.

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Is the episode count, perhaps, OVER NINE-THOUSAAAAAAAND?!!?!?!??!?!

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
16: major major roffle waffles. At least Harry Potter is fun wish fulfillment. Also that picture is adorable.

I was already pining for this game, but now I'm even more impatient! Poor Link *A*;

[identity profile] garefowl.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
22. Nothing wrong with you. Some people think I am crazy for being able to sit through and enjoy series like BECK, Mushishi, and so forth because they find them to be slow and boring. One man's junk is another's treasure, I say.

[identity profile] iverin.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
BECK is freaking awesome. :3

16

[identity profile] mojotmonkey.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
...Uh. There's an (animated) movie coming out in the Fall for Dragons of Autumn Twilight.

Just sayin'.

That is awesome and frightening at the same time. I hope they don't mess it up to badly.

I was once so obsessed with a fanfic author that I made a soundtrack for one of her stories (the chapters were all song titles) and mailed it to her. I even made the cover art.

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
9. I only started to watch this show a couple months ago on re-runs, just thinking of Prue not being there makes me want to stop watching.

16. And of all the better fantasy books Dragonlance is all you could come up with?. Whatever, the trio looks so cute on that pic, they're adorable. *loves them*

22. Three of my favorite series right there, reverse harem FTW, shoujo can have a deeper meaning too, and fast paced action series can be formulaic and be cheesy too, I love them both.

And there are some that have them both, violence, action, love and drama, Rurouni Kenshin anyone?.

16. I'm only a casual HP fan, but it seems pretty damn close-minded and elitist of you to snub all the millions of people who love it as wrongly classifying it as a "classic." After all, being popular and well-loved is what defines a classic, not whether you personally deem it acceptable or not.
ext_55206: (Psy - Read a fucking book)

[identity profile] jill-calico.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I always felt that to define a book as a classic, it had to survive the test of time and all that. :/ I mean, I didn't particularly care for Lord of the Rings, but it's obviously classic. The Goosebumps books were popular and well-loved by 4th graders in the 90's, but I'd hardly consider them classic.

The OP was kind of harsh, agreed, but I honestly wouldn't consider HP classic either. At least not yeat. Give it fourty years and see what happens.

4. You are good enough. Don't ever doubt that.

5. I doubt your friends are exactly like the characters they want to be. There will be some traits they share, and there will be some traits you share with some character, some with another... but hardly ever the whole package.
Anyways, be glad you are your unique self, because on some level, no matter how good the development, those characters remain fictional. Blots of ink on paper. Or light on some screen.
*sends you hugs* I've been feeling like that for a long time.

Secret-maker of 4 here. I just wanted to say I'm touched by what you said. Thank you.

22. Glancing to my right, I have volumes of both Hellsing and Ouran Host Club on my nightstand for some bedtime reading. =D Anything that keeps me turning the pages.

16. This one made me LOL. Sorry--I can't help it, and it was a sad laugh. I adored the Dragonlance books when I was about 10 or eleven, I cried buckets when Tas finally died, but I bought the Annotated Chronicles and... I find they really, really suck now. The writing style bothers me, it seems, well, crappy. the Potter books are far more interesting to me now, they all have stood up to repeated readings. Anyway yeah.

And I swear, it's not that I want to call Dragonlance crap. God, do I wish I could still love it as much as I did. But I regret having ever tried to reread them again, because the serious plunge in perceived quality totally tarnished my memories.

Though, who knows, it might make an excellent film or three or eight. But I just can't agree that the writing style is better. It's like... junior fantasy reading, before people move on real epic fantasy.

14. I LOVE Naminé's facial expression. It makes the rest of the scene look wrong. >_>;

I actually love their friendship, however dysfunctional and non-existent it may be. It's a shame they really only touch upon it in the books/manga and it like... gets one scene in the FM version of the game where Nam chooses to go with Axel and not Riku. DX But yeah, just saying I sort of ship them too xD (No, it's not because I think either one of them looks better with Roxas, I'm just more used to them being friends or helping each other than lovers. But god, they are cute).

21. That's why I play private servers. Yes, they're free and yes, they're easier to play, but the real reason is because I CAN'T STAND 98% OF THE PEOPLE PLAYING THE GAME. So I hunt for small RO servers and if they start to grow past 200-300 people on constantly, I move. Thankfully, none of them grow that fast. XD and 200-300 isn't even a lot, I just can't stand it! I get annoyed when I'm training on the same map as someone because I'm worried they might talk to me. dkjshdkjashdkj

That's why I'm waiting for a Maple Story private server and that game IS free. I just don't want to put up with the morons. DX

25. Yay, handwritten secret! ♥

Some people just do have the knack for stealing the spotlight though. That sucks for you. DX On the bright side, maybe now your stuff will get more exposure. At least people know you exist now?

[identity profile] exhero.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
9. Agreed. :( The show just sucked after she died. Paige was such a crappy, annoying replacement.

[identity profile] meganubunny.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
11. Whoever you are, I love you.

26. I feel as though I can sorta relate. ):

11. You're welcome. And I love Keroro Gunso, by the way. ^^

Yeah, that show started to suck after Shannon left. After that, the show pretty much degenerated into a contest between Alyssa, Holly, and Rose to see who can get their character brainwashed and forced into wearing sparkly outfits by the most fantasy beings.

Don't even get me started on the Hogwarts ripoff magic school...

[identity profile] enfeebledchi.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
7 - I totally agree with you there. They were one of the most interesting couples I've ever read about.

26 - I know. I definitely don't want there to be a bunch of token gay characters, but I think that Western comics especially could do better. Karolina is terrific. If only there were more like her!

Yay, Runaways secrets! :D

[identity profile] luna-kitsu-blu.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
26.) A.MEN.

Please, ONE non-feme gay man ftw! PLEASE. Its just not the same when I make them up...

11 - YOU ARE MY HERO.

4 - Lacking confidence sucks.

1 - Um....that's a bit far. o.O

7 - I'm curious, what series is this?

16 - I love HP and Dragonlance, but...really, could've used a better series.

22 - Tell them. They can think what they like, it shouldn't stop you from watching what you really want to.

26 - I feel a bit like that as well. "Why don't you slash the stuff with canon gay?" "Because I don't like the characters nearly as much."

ILU. You are not alone! Except in the liking the second half more, I like them both pretty much equally :)
