I don't actually read these types of fic, but every time I hear someone complain about the top/bottom thing I just want to point out that a lot of people just simply are into that dynamic...

It's more about how characters don't choose these roles, but are biologically assigned them. I'm into D/s fic, and one of the things I like about it is that the characters decide their roles and trust each other in them. I'm totally for people having whatever kinks they want, but I think it has to be acknowledged that this one is pretty strange, as it manages to combine sex slaves, bestiality, mpreg, and self-lubricating anuses. Actually, that is kind of impressive....

I am shamelessly reposting the GIF agentcthulhu shared on this very subject in yesterday's thread.

That is disturbing yet fantastic.

That IS sort of impressive lol.

The heirarchy bothers me because a lot of omegafics I've seen present omegas as mindless during heat and so discriminated against in society as useless for anything more than sex. And then you always have them paired with Alphas, while Betas are seen as less than Alphas, and it's just all one big mess of stereotypes.

Put that way, it sounds like a slashy attempt to out Gor Gor.

for some people, the plain fact that it's a 30 kink pile up is a turn on. I mean, I prefer my omegaverse fics when there's an age gap and they're brothers, so.... yeah the fact that it's SO WRONG makes it SO RIGHT.

I can totally understand that, as I have my own kinks. I'm not judging anyone for liking it, I'm just amazed that it is so popular because it's so out there! btw what pairing?

I'm into D/s fic, and one of the things I like about it is that the characters decide their roles and trust each other in them.

I want to be able to love D/s, but it seems for every such fic I find that emphasizes choice and trust and informed consent, there's fifty more emphasizing force and violence and dubious consent. Not that there's anything wrong with that kink, but I feel lonely in my preference for strong people who submit just because they like to.

YANA! If I could capslock capslock I would.

I have the same issue. I hate when I see something labeled as D/s or BDSM when it's really about sex slaves. "Strong people who submit just because they like to" pretty much sums up my interest in D/s. Subs are too often seen as weak, but I think it's very much the opposite.

I know what you mean. I think there's definitely a dynamic in some IRL D/s that thrives on the fantasy of non-consent, and so fics where there is actual non-consent hits that kink. But that is not the entirety of D/s play or fantasies, nowhere near!

but I feel lonely in my preference for strong people who submit just because they like to.

thiiiiis.
if more D/s fic was like this, i would read the hell out of it.
i guess i just really love the psychological aspect of it.

It's more about how characters don't choose these roles, but are biologically assigned them

Well, yeah. That's the whole point of it. D/s where someone chooses to submit squicks the fuck out of me. No judgment for real life kinks and no judgment for people who only like it in fiction but the concept of submission fills me with this absolute sense of horror. But pop it into a noncon setting where the submissive party is being forced to submit and then it's hotter than the center of the sun.

IDK why this particular kink is all that strange, for that matter. Yeah, it has a lot of kinks built in but so do most kinks when you start to unpack them. And man, you want kink pile ups? 24/7 D/s world fic can have everything you just mentioned (okay, without self lubing assholes). And it's okay that it does. People like it that way, so why not?

All kinks are strange, IMO, when you get down to them. Sex in general is strange. Natural, healthy, and a source of orgasms but really freaking weird. Omegaverse stuff is no different than any other kink out there.

I'm not saying that strange is bad. As you pointed out, even I have to accept that my kinks can be weird to other people. It's just that it's this combination of so many taboo fetishes set in a complex society that is shared between multiple fandoms, which is kind of bizarre and unusual. It's also kind of awesome in it's strangeness, despite not being into it myself. When I said the line you quoted, I was just explaining what the difference between top/bottom and omegaverse is. If that is what floats your boat, rock on! It's just kind of ridiculous sounding when you think about what it is exactly.
