Really? I mean, I didn't *hate* it, but I didn't really love it either. I felt it was incredibly mediocre compared to Iron Man or Captain America. Which was sad because I really like the lead. Anyway :P Liked Thor better in the Avengers. Way more awesome IMO.

What is it with people thinking they're the only ones who dislike something popular? Jesus H., there's plenty of people who despise the Marvel flicks. Not liking them is hardly something unique and special. You're not a special snowflake. Why is this even a secret? Craving attention, acceptance, support, and vindication, are we? lmao.

I found it pretty dull. The only characters that interested me were Darcy, Loki and Heimdall. Natalie Portman was completely grating, and I usually love her. It felt like everything that could and should ahve been interesting about the story - the worldbuilding, the mythos and the science - were sidelined in favour of same-old Hollywood father-son-brother stuff. It's a well-produced snorefest, imo.

Uh....no. I've seen a lot of hate.

Most people just liked THOR, the character, and Loki of course. And possibly even Odin and the other characters (outside jane). but the MOVIE itself isn't exactly.... stellar and it gets a lot of hate.

....wow. After writing that....I realized it's the first movie I "like" for ONLY the characters. O_o

As you can see in this thread, plenty of people hate this movie. Just because something does well at the box office (and has a big fanbase) doesn't mean there aren't still plenty of people who don't dislike it.

I get this feeling because there was a thread back then that compared Captain America (a far superior movie, IMHO) and Thor and most people seemed to favor Thor. But you really aren't the only one.

The only reason I find to like the Thor movie is because of the characters and background. Which I do like, but I also liked them before when I read about them in the comic books, tbh.

That movie sucked. It had some moments, just the funny bits and the sibling stuff for me imo, but it was all a bunch of wasted potential and character development. It had the depth of a Doritos ad.

I think there are plenty of people who didn't like it, but they're drowned out by the few screaming rabid Loki or Thor fans who will like anything those two are in no matter the quality. Also, I think people who disliked it just said it was shit and moved on. The people who did like it are a tad obsessive and keep talking about it.

I loved a lot of the things that came from it and a lot of isolated parts of it: the characters and the awesome Asgardian worldbuilding bits and Coulson hijacking New Mexico and the continuity porn and every line that came out of Thor's mouth while on earth and the cinematography and CGI and shiny pretty set designs and the GORGEOUS soundtrack, but the movie as a whole wasn't great. Not enough superheroing, badly done romance, kinda stupid and blah plot, and the story was kinda weirdly paced and felt incomplete. Like filler background material for the Avengers more than a full movie.

However, due to the aforementioned things I did like about it, I am really jazzed for Thor 2. They might use those things to tell an actual good story this time.

Uhhh I think it's the opposite. Many ppl dislike it.

I'm one of the ppl who enjoyed it, but imo I'm in the minority. And it has a fandom, so of course a number of other ppl enjoyed it too... Doesn't make it a great movie.

Mediocre movie at BEST. As someone else said, the characters are pretty good, but everything else falls waaaaay short of the mark of a good movie.

Thor's transformation from "arrogant asshole" to "repentant good king material" is forced and rushed and not very believable. Same for the romance. Same for... pretty much the whole plot.

(Also, I'm having a hard time with the concept of "letting in our worst enemies just to ruin my brother's big day" as being a mischievous prank to pull and the idea that if this is the sort of thing Loki is known for that he wasn't already despised. I mean. It's sort of not a "mischievous" thing to do and more of an "outright malicious" thing to do... so... yeah.)
