Mufasa... who banished an entire species from his lands just because they were rivals for the same food resources. Totally shitting over the entire Circle of Life thing since spotted hyenas are responsible for diminishing diseases by eating everything of a carcas.

Yeah, considering the contradictions here, he is a very fitting symbol for the Christian god ;)

Aslan was specifically created as God/Christ figure (he shows up around Christmas time, he dies and comes back to life, etc), yet the OP finds the character NOT specifically created to be a God analog more spiritual for them.

Not only are they both lions, but they're both really similar characters in general. Mufasa's defining characteristic was bring Simba's father/guide and Aslan's defining characteristic is being the father-figure/guide.
OP probably just relates more strongly to Mufasa because it's a character from their childhood (assuming they didn't read Chronicles of Narnia).

When I was a kid our religion teacher asked us how we pictured God. My answer was Mufasa.

They all are really. Any world with sentient animals on all levels and an otherwise unchanged carnivore system means the apex predators pretty much have to be sociopaths.

I never thought about Mufasa that way but I can definitely see it now, especially in that scene.

I think the best part about this is what Mufasa says.

"You are my Son, and the One True King."

That totally makes Simba Jesus.
