Oh God. Rick is downright difficult to think about.

Yeah, Nolan's not much of a fanboy. He seems like someone intrigued by the general Batman concept, but not really interested in the little details of the mythos. Which is part of why his movies were so universally appealing, I imagine, because the vast majority of his audience is like that, too. I agree it was a serious waste of material for eagle-eyed fans to argue over in forums. "Was that blonde really Harley? Here's a five-page essay of why I think so."

I'm sure the scientist spend years of their life working on that project with that outcome in mind. :P

Honestly, I would be frustrated as hell if the work of my life would be overshadowed by some guy with funny hair.

Eh...It'd be a little closer to say that he's said that it wasn't 'instant' friendship like a lot of show partnerships are when they start, but that over time they've become best friends. [I think somewhere Penn's actually mentioned that Teller is his best friend? [Or implied it with mentioning that Teller was who he talked to when his parents past, or something along those lines.]]

Oh motherfuck, I'm glad I stopped reading (that and that disgusting bullshit with Michonne's backstory being Playboy and trying to make the grossest character ever a hero). That is so lazy and gross.

[personal profile] honk 2012-08-11 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
wheatley is a really dynamic character, more so than glados, and a lot of the fandom quickly fell in love with him because he's goofy and ridiculous lol

glados is a good character too and i like her story but wheatley broke everybody's heart and no one can let him go

eta: also - and without spoiling anything - wheatley and chell spend a lot of time together, and they share some connections regarding the facility and stuff, so a lot of people consider that shipping material

Better question, why did I listen to you.

I'm pretty much loling at this entire thread, cause even though you all mean drama, I just have the image of everyone furiously masturbating.

I can't be the only Brit who thinks this.

Re: Hair washing question

[personal profile] jalaperilo 2012-08-11 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
I wash my hair nearly everyday cause it's fine and gets greasy after a day or two as well. I shower everyday I have work, or if I'm off out on my day off, but if I'm having a slob day, I'll skip it due to laziness.

My hair never has a problem with washing it everyday, so I just do it every time I hop in the shower.

We just had to pause The Bourne Identity so I could finish laughing at "willy-nilly." For 5 minutes.

And now, I hurt.

Why...do people like this character so much?

I mean, I can enjoy a complex and tragic character while still wanting him to ultimately burn in hell for being an awful person, but it seems like people want him to, I dunno, get better and live happily ever after or some shit.

Re: I HATE THAT 1 DIRECTION SONG

(Anonymous) 2012-08-11 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
I can't really feel bothered by it considering pretty much every other song is about a woman being a perfect 10 which causes the insecurities in a lot of women that they aren't these "perfect hot ladies" that all the songs talk about. And they are a group aimed at young teen girls, of course they will try to have a song about 'you are still beautiful even if you aren't the confident bombshell type'.

I never have OTP's cause I always ship characters with more than one person, and for me OTP is one true pair to the bitter end.

For me it's Optimus Prime. I ship him only with Elita-1. That said, I cant look at art with him in a relationship or read smut with him involved. It totally squicks me out. Every other single Transformer? Sure, bring it on. Prime? DO NOT WANT.

The only other thing I don't like is characters as animals. Kinda cringe worthy.

[identity profile] imati-lau.livejournal.com 2012-08-11 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Best to ignore them. I know I do, because otherwise, I end with my poor stomach churning with rage. (And I work on a place when you can see this same kind of shallow people live, everyday, it huuurrtss)

I love Wheatley too, but the things some people do with him in fandom, ;_; Some are awesome, but some do freak me out!

[personal profile] truxillogical 2012-08-11 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and I think that's a big problem I have with his movies, especially the last one, which didn't feel even a little bit like an actual Batman movie. But it seems like a pass to give the excuse of the general audience not being interested in the details of the mythos. A good writer, a good director, someone who genuinely loves his source material can make the audience care about things they never knew about. They can weave old stories into the new thing so well that the audience never knew that such-and-such was from this issue back in '78 or what-have-you. And while Nolan's movies do very well, I hope the take-away Hollywood gets from his movies isn't "remove mythos; make universally appealing." Because there's just so little honest joy in it. And if that were the secret formula, then Avengers, which was made with absolute love for its source material, with in-jokes and continuity humor, and small characters like Sitwell and Hill added for the sake of having them in there, wouldn't have beat it out at the box office.

Nolan makes nice movies. But I'd really rather watch a talented fanboy move a movie about something her really and truly loves, because that love will translate on screen much better than "I had to use these characters, so here's their names, I will now have them perform an action their comic-counterpart is known for, before returning to my writing them like they were my own OC."

Sad troll is sad.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2012-08-11 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Does that work for what problem exactly? Like I don't think it would help with dirt, but I always figured people used those for bad odours, discharges, or irritation. I know everyone's body is different, but based on my experience with using chemicals (Monistat1 = THE DEVIL) versus just rinsing thoroughly with warm water, air drying, and leaving the hell alone: YES, it works.
