I'm watching through the DVDs now, and keep wondering if there's any fic that explores the Adora/Hordak/Shadow Weaver family unit, set either while Adora was still a child or during the show's timeline. Hordak puts a hell of a lot of effort into trying to get his "adopted" daughter back to not have any fatherly feelings toward her whatsoever! (Also, are Hordak and Shadow Weaver the Voldemort/Bellatrix of this show or what.)

Very fond of this one, hope you haven't read it already: Satan Take The Wheel/Fall Like Lightning Down From Heaven. Arthur/Eames, the second chapter has toy usage (a lightning wand) if you count that as pain, but neither chapter has humiliation.

And, hm, Just A Little Touch, Arthur/Eames again, D/s AU, no pain or humiliation whatsoever, just pretty compelling bonding drama.

The movie Alive is a 1993 biographical survival drama film based upon the true-life story of a Uruguayan rugby team who were involved in the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which crashed into the Andes mountains - or you could read the book it’s based on a Piers Paul Read's book Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors.

There’s the TV show I Shouldn’t Be Alive, which is a documentary series that features accounts of individuals and groups caught in dangerous scenarios, presented both through interviews and dramatic reenactments. The main focus is how the survivors survived and the decisions they made that kept them alive.

There was a TV movie called The Day After, the inhabitants of a small town in Kansas struggle with life after a nuclear strike. There was also a TV show called Jericho with a similar premise.

Borderlands, The by Deifire. Drama, PG-13, one-shot at 5,172 words, set between books 4 and 5. Author's summary: In which the ka-tet reads the writing on the wall, faces the music, and meets some old friends.

This wonderful fic gives us a glimpse of events to come for the ka-tet, explores their bond with Roland, and balances the serious with some light meta fun. A lovely piece of writing!
