At least you like it...? I honestly think it's great, but... I mean, there are definite issues with the show and sometimes the effects are iffy (I ascribe that mostly to a TV-sized budget) but I legitimately think the writing's well done (for the most part) and clever.

Once Upon a Time :) The pairing is Rumplestiltskin/Belle.

Once Upon A Time replaced Glee as my feel good, guilty pleasure tv show. It's not the most fantastic thing ever, but I find fun and a nice hour long break in my week. Just relax and enjoy it until it's no longer fun. Then move on to something else.

Yeah, I suspect this is a "guilty pleasure", "so-bad-it's-good" sorta thing for me... I read a truckload of fairytales as a kid, so it's probably got a direct feed to my inner child.

I love this show and won't even feel ashamed about it. It's no masterpiece, but I fail to give a shit.

i love this show so much. do yourself a favor and avoid the fandom, though.

May I ask why? While the fandom's gotten a lot bigger and therefore not as great as it once was (OUAT fandom back when only the first few episodes were out was GREAT), it's not a bad fandom at all. I mean, I kind of miss when it was smaller, but...

rumples and regina apologists. they have made fandom unbearable, and i say this as someone who likes both characters.

Huh, on the flip side, I've been enjoying the fandom even more than the show.

Once Upon a Time is one of those shows that you can really get into if you like it for what it is, which is not the best show ever but a fun and cheesy good time. I like fairy tale retellings so it was pretty easy for me to get into.

But no offense OP, so tired of Rumbelle shippers in the fandom, they give me the worst second hand embarrassment of any of the fans.

Why is that?
I've barely dipped my toes into the fandom, so I'm not familiar with it.

(As an aside... since I submitted that secret, I've picked up a LOT more ships.)

Probably because they write some of the weirdest fics and I've seen a lot of the Rumpel fans in general do some self insert fanart which just embarrasses me to no end. The Rumbelle fans are just kind of the crazier side of the fandom.

you think the rumbelle shippers are the worst in this fandom? lol no, not even, and i don't even ship that shit.

I keep my distance from shippers when I can, but Rumbelle are the annoying ones who are hard to escape.

You've never heard that term used before disparagingly? Huh, maybe language is different over here.
The people I know generally use it to describe kids that are way too knowledgable for their age, or are kind of annoying. Bindi Irwin, for example. Or those kids on Toddles & Tiaras (though in their defense, their mothers are nightmares.)

Agree. I watched it because my best friend asked me to and I felt bad because she really likes it and I just didn't :(

It's so cheesy, although the writing does have a few moments here and there (mostly when they're not trying to force the fairytale and the human story lines to parallel each other, like the introduction of August).

One more oh-so-clever joke about how the non-magic-world characters are like they're fairytale counterparts ("your charming friend", dr. hopper using the word conscience in 90% of his dialogue, Glass-reflection, etc., etc.) and I would have killed myself.

Also, I never had a problem with Belle/Beast but somehow Rumple/Belle has made me realize how fucking creepy all of it is. (Still like Belle/Beast, though)

...I'm sorry, I'm just LOLing at your weird use of "precocious." I do not think it means what you think it means. And whatever; it's a fun show & Rumbelle is adorable.
