Notes:
Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.
If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.
The submissions post for next week is below as usual.
Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.
Secrets Not Posted: [ 0 - broken links ], [ 0 - not!secrets ], [ 0 - not!fandom ], [ 0 - too big ], [ 0 - repeat ].
Current Secret Submissions Post: here.
Suggestions, comments, and concerns should go here.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-03 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)Should parents be allowed to deny science as a cure for their child's illness, and let their baby die in the middle of a prayer circle?
What if the parents legitimately believe that girls shouldn't get an education, and remove their daughters from school? Is that still "the right to raise their children how they see fit"?
And if you can't understand that argument (which was "parents don't know best" fyi), then maybe you'll understand this: enforced learning of creationism looks harmless to you, but it's ruining that child's ability to go to legitimate post secondary education.

I mean I get what you're saying and for the most part agree, but I think it's a tricky thing.

Also, if a person believes in literal creationism and that person isn't in a scientific field, it doesn't really matter all that much imo. You're entitled to your beliefs.

........what?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 02:01 am (UTC)(link)It took discovering the internet and people on it at the age of 15 or so for me to realize not everybody believed all this and that all of what my parents was telling me was utter bullshit. Until then, I was taught to hate myself.
Parents have the right to raise children, not to abuse them. Teaching them things like this is abuse.

I don't think teaching literal creationism is the same thing though. It's not directly harmful to a person like teaching things such as "your sexuality is wrong/evil" and "women should be subservient". It's just misinformation that isn't directly relevant to you.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 04:14 am (UTC)(link)They didn't say Creationism. They literally said horrible things like hatred and bigotry.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)I don't care what other people are comparing or not. I'm addressing that statement by sirvalkyrie which is all kinds of no. That is abuse.
