I'm going to be honest. I don't think I would mind the boob window so much if men had similar "pec windows" as often as women.

At least, I think so. It hasn't happened so I don't know for sure.

I dunno...I didn't think men's pecs were generally thought of as sexy like boobs are. And there ARE bulging packages, tight asses and enormous biceps on male characters, all of which I think would be the more direct comparison.

The thing is, I don't care for bulging packages or enormous biceps. Asses are nice though. Maybe we should put the window there?

Personally I would rather see more male heroes in heels.

Except the entire reason it's problematic is because of objectification.

Even an ass window wouldn't cut it--not on a guy. People don't go around hoping a guy will bend over so you can see his ass crack; that's generally a source of comic relief in overweight plumbers.

You aren't doing this right.

Do I honestly think anything I'm proposing would happen? No. Do I want it to? Not really. Do I instead want women to be treated with more respect when they are designed and not objectified? Yes.

What a laugh. All I was saying was that, in a perfect world scenario, if you objectify the sexes equally, will I complain? No. Equally objectified. Whatever. If you don't objectify the sexes, will I complain? Uh, no. If you objectify the unequally, for example, women being sex dolls and men not, will I complain? Yes.

I was putting forth the idea about them both being objectified equally. Do I think that's actually possible? I'm not really sure.

But don't you dare tell me I'm doing feminism wrong. I could have sworn we, as feminists, looked down on that mentality. Even if you don't agree with me, which is fine, I don't think you can call me "doing it wrong" over a simple, flippant joke.

Well, this one doesn't have a "pec window" but Namor: The Submariner basically runs around all day in a green speedo. Just a speedo.

Namor is one of a handful of male comics characters that ever gets objectified on anything close to the level that ALL OF THE WOMEN do. The only others that immediately come to mind are Dick Grayson and Gambit.

Crap, there was an amazing genderbent cosplay group of superheroes and Power Girl(or Boy in this case) was in it. It was great, he just wore a little white speedo thing. It's buried in my likes tho and I can't find it. :'(

(Though I'm good with the boob window as long as it's drawn in a way that makes her actually look supported, rather than magic-taped on with a wing and a prayer.)

Beautiful. It reminds me of this redesign.

(I can understand that. For me I would have to add her boobs also need to look like boobs. My problem is with the overall state of male designs vs. female designs in comic books.)
