You know, I get pretty confused by all the "Gaia sucks" attitudes, especially on the comments in here. I think a lot of people don't know that all sorts of major artists are all over Gaia. Wen-M, Bara-chan, Budgie, Hakubaikou, Ramy, ProdigyBombay, Luciole Loong, Sleckt, KogepanM, Look, jadedice, the list is longer than I can imagine.

The internet can bash Gaia users all it likes, but when you get right down to it, that site probably has as many or more high profile digital artists than LiveJournal does.

The next time you're admiring some professional's art on deviantART, I want you to wonder if they're someone over on that stupid kiddy site you hate. =D

I honestly stopped taking anyone that bashes Gaia seriously when someone threw around the "gaiafag" term in one of the forums there. And it wasn't the average troll account either. So, unless that guy had been hacked, I'd say there's some weird people out there, that bash Gaia, and yet are active in the forums.

Of course SuzuLulu will never be canon (despite how gay they are). The official art pairs everyone with everyone, so I don't really take any of the pairings seriously (Lelouch = whore). Though I can see Lelouch/C.C. happening. Even if it happened, I wouldn't stop slashing Suzaku with him, though.

4. They used to bug me, but over time, I finally decided that while the infamous Mary Sues aren't really pinnacles of good writing, they ARE often a part of being a young fan. It's not really the kind of thing anyone's interested in reading or seeing besides them and their friends, but hey, they're just enjoying fandom in their own way, so I don't bother them.

4. I noticed the OP used the term OC but you equated it with Mary Sue. Are all OC's Mary Sues by default? Is it possible to have a GOOD OC that actually kind of makes sense? I'm curious, because I've got several OCs of my own and a sort of psuedo-mini fandom around them. (But our fandom is small and the character it centers around really has no peers, so in order to write any thing of substance about him we kind of have to make it up as we go along.)

I'd hate to see myself falling into the Mary Sue/self insert trap just because I had to make up a few key characters to make a story work, and then keep them around (and, yeah, inevitably pair them with canon characters) because I liked them.

1. I think Pintsize is the only one I actually like but Questionable Content was my first webcomic so, in my eyes, it can do no wrong. (Okay, okay, not counting Sheldon. But the talking duck IS the comic.) But the more I see it, the more it feels cheap. The low point of Home on the Strange for me was an arc concerning a little animal.

4. I hate to admit it (because it feels so snobby), but I feel pretty much the same way. It makes me :/ a little bit.

4. I really don't get why people are so bugged by that. I understand in some cases, but not all OCs who date canon characters are Sues. Besides, I don't like a lot of pairing types in the fandom - so I just don't read them.
