The thing that really gets to me about ONTD is the icons. A lot of people have ones that move very quickly or jerkily, and it makes me physically nauseous. I have no idea why they're so popular there.

Personally, I love ONTD because it's very diverse. You've got your regular assholes but then there are also some of the sweetest people on Earth. And to be fair, it's been like that for years. IMO nothing's changed during the time I've followed ONTD.

Also, keeping company. No matter what hour, there are people there you can talk to.

The trick is to find like-minded people and learn to choose your battles. I've been jumped at by a few SJWs there (relax, it happens to everyone), but it never escalated into anything worse.
And yeah, it's just a silly gossip community, so don't take it so seriously.

I got banned from ONTD because there was a rape apologist going full-tilt in there and I kept trying to explain why they needed to stop with that view. They just kept slut-shaming and victim-blaming and defending rapists, and I finally lost my shit and admitted I had been raped and their viewpoint was disgusting.

I got banned.

Other person didn't.

Fuck ONTD. Protecting rape apologists, but banning someone who finally gets pushed so far she snaps. Sure.

i have ONTD on my rss feeds because i find it's the best place to get a cross-section of pop culture 'gossip' - that way i only see text and don't have to be subjected to any comments...the very few times my twisted curiosity gets the better of me and i DO read comments, i usually regret it

Yeah, there is a lot of hypocrisy and double standards over there. But I just stick to being in threads that are "lighter." I do read through most of the "wank" posts, and even then it is just a handful of people slamming on their keyboards back and forth at each other.

Usually the Roundup, FFA and late night/early morning posts are the nicest ones to be in.
