I think the bigger question is does this mean Danny/Sam overall or Sam/Phantom vs. Sam/Fenton? I can see why they would hate someone if they only ship Sam with "the Ghost Boy" and not with 'normal' Danny.

lmao I remember this show and terrible it was. I remember being forever surprised that it even had a fandom tbh.

It's on netflix though, and now I kinda want to just marathon it to see if really was all that bad. This is an unrelated comment btw I forgot to say that.

...I can't help but feel that this is about me even though I know that's irrational and silly.

I can definitely see why someone wouldn't ship this (although OP/OP's friend up there in the comments seems to have a COMPLETELY different interpretation than I do) - there's the way the ship took centre stage for all of S3 and basically killed all of the main characters' personalities, there's the whole 'oh girls can't be just friends with guys' nonsense, there's the Nice Guy (Girl?) overtones, and the way she seems to fetishize his powers (seriously girl, if you honestly think he's not special without them then DO NOT DATE HIM), but I still think they're adorable together even if I don't see it as the kind of relationship where they date all through college, get married and settle down with a white picket fence and a dog and have adorable half-ghost babies. It's okay to ship things you know wouldn't work in real life, or things that wouldn't necessarily go on forever. (Just like it's okay to date people you don't necessarily see yourself marrying.) And seriously, defriending people over shipping - especially if you don't know their reasoning - seems a little harsh.

Anyway. That's just my two cents.

It's been a very long time since I've even thought about this show, and I wasn't a shipper for it at all (I sort of shipped Fandom Police/Getting a life, but I only found out about that after the fact) but I thought the Sam/Danny romance arc kind of hurt the show. Sam started as this really funny character, and IIRC she got toned down a little when Danny started liking her back.

Not saying the ship itself is bad, I just want the Sam that reminds me of what a ridiculous little shit I was at 14.

Definitely not saying that I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who did like it, because what the fuck

I can't stand Danny/Sam (well, Season Three only that is), but I wouldn't go as far as breaking up a friendship over that. Not even close.

I can see the reason for the dislike for the ship (honestly by the end it was just plain forced), but refusing to be friends over a ship seems petty to me.

Clarifying kind of breaks the secret, I feel, but it seems I need it.
Danny/Sam shippers are BATSHIT INSANE.
I once had someone tell me, no trace of sarcasm, that I was going to go to hell for not being a "true fan".
So yeah, I'm going to assume anyone who is still a legit fan of this ship (not just supported them in passing back when the show was on) is an awful person and not worth being a friend.

My ship is Tucker/Sam anyways.

Eh that's okay. I find if you ship him with Paulina or Valerie or Vlad I probably don't actually have anything in common with you anyway so no real loss.
