Oh, I don't think it's a stereotype (not that I know of, anyway). Some troll a while ago posted on a secret about some Norwegian celebrities that all Norwegians looked weird, and when questioned about it, they said they had stayed at a hotel with some Norwegians who looked weird and "soulless" and I think "psycho," and that they had made a lot of noise.

Aww, now I am doubly disappointed... Firstly because I would have loved that stereotype and adopted it as my new one! And secondly because I missed that secret!

I even commented on that secret, how did I miss that!

I love that someone out there actually think Norwegians look weird, and got soulless eyes*. I thought Scandinavians where considered pretty, or at least blonde, blue eyed and tall...

*even with the possibility of that being a troll.

I haven't heard much Norwegian, but Danish always sounds like mumbling to me.

We say that Danish is Norwegian spoken with a potato in their throat, so Norwegian is just a less mumbly version of Danish...

I watched Flame & Citron (which is in Danish with some German and a little French iirc) with my mom who speaks German. She said the Danish was driving her crazy because it was just close enough to German for her to kind of understand a little and pick up some cognates, but that it was like they were mumbling everything. Then in the scenes in German the same actors were completely clear to her, so it was the language not the actors.

That really depends on the accent, mine is pretty shoppy, people really far north do sound pretty musical though.

Don't forget the notion that Norwegians sound happy even when they're angry. The Danish sounds slightly the other way around.
