I do personally disagree with slashing canonly straight characters myself (though if they're not actually stated to be straight in the canon, all bets are off), but I think you're misinformed about the reason people consider straight-shipping gay characters more offensive:

It's not non-con, it's erasing. It's belittling the existence of gay people by implying, "There's no such thing as gay, you just haven't found the right member of the opposite sex yet" which is apparently a really common attitude taken by the homophobic.

That's not to say that it isn't possible for people who have identified as gay to be mistaken about their sexuality, but in fiction, that plot can be read a lot differently if it's not handled well, whereas the notion of a straight-identifying character discovering they were mistaken seems to have a little more leeway in that regard.

I wonder if someday gay will be seen as the normal, and hetro will be seen as *ahem* 'unusual'.

Interesting thought...

It would probably make more sense to say "I wonder if someday bisexuality will be seen as the norm and hetero will be seen as unusual"

Not as long as we're a species that reproduces by doing the nasty.

Not really - the chances of that happening are slim to none...though it would be a lot larger if you were talking about the human race either going bi or pansexual for the norm, with the hetero being the unusual.
