BRAS (mild TMI warning, maybe??)

[personal profile] diet_poison 2012-12-23 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Random question time!

Do you wear a bra? Why or why not? If so, what kind do you prefer to wear? Do you shop for them directly or have you been professionally fitted? (I've never done this, but I kind of want to. It's supposed to be fantastic.) Do you like patterns or cute colors, or just something plain? Do they have to match your panties? TELL ME YOUR BRAS.

(I got the idea to do this because someone a few months ago had an underwear thread, which I thought was really amusing, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone ask a question like this.)

I have a pretty small chest but even so I can't stand not wearing a bra during the day. I start to get sore without one. I hate bra shopping though since it's hard to find stuff small enough for me in the bra section (I've actually worn trainer bras before, and I don't mean when I was still developing). I also can't stand things like underwire or padding. I will actually sometimes wear a sports bra when I'm not working out - my favorite sports bra is probably more comfortable than any of my regular bras. It does smush me up a little though so if I'm specifically trying to look nice, I avoid doing that so my form shows a liiittle bit more through my top.

How about you, f!s?

Professional bra fitting?.. ...it is... a thing?

I personally do wear them and it's hard for me to imagine how I would hang about without one, because my nipples get hard all the time for all sorts of reasons (cold, warm, anxiety, whatever), and it just weirds me out when people see it.

No preferences about colour and fabric, though. I'm brutal enough to wear whatever is comfortable :D

i'm a size d so my tits get in the way if they're not partially secured in some form. plus i hate the way my clothes feel rubbing up against my nips.

i prefer demis but i'm wearing a sports bra right now. it's easier to adjust if it feels wrong.

I have small boobs, but like all the women in my family, they extend further under my arms than for most women. That makes underwired bras REALLY uncomfortable because the wire always cuts into breast tissue.

So I wear non-wired ones. Unfortunately, I tend to find that non-wired come in a variety of incredibly plain and rather unflattering desgins. Still, it's not like there are bras to match girl boxers anyway, hubby will just have to accept it :-)

I wear a bra because I like it. I feel naked if I don't and feel the ladies jiggling around, it makes me uncomfortable. Especially the week or so before my period (sorry, TMI) when they start to get sore and grow in size.

I love plain and cute bras, with polka dots, stripes or drawings, but not frilly, and I love it even more when my bra matches my pants. I prefer padded bras and don't mind underwire (though once, it started coming out and poking me in the ribs). I'm paranoid, every time I buy one, about what kind of clothes I can wear it that won't be see-through. I buy them directly since my size is pretty consistent anyway.

By the way, if anyone's looking, this brand is pretty nice: http://en.etam.com/
Reasonable prices for a lingerie store and their bras last for years.

Oh, yes, about the wired/unwired bras. I buy the wired ones. And then I cut the wires out of them.

I have pretty huge breasts so not wearing a bra is not really an option. I love cute bras with patterns and colors but I've never been able to find one big enough. Sports bras are super comfortable so I wear them almost exclusively, and the smushing isn't a problem for me because my boobs still look big in them.

Re: BRAS (mild TMI warning, maybe??)

(Anonymous) 2012-12-23 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I wear bras mostly because my c cups are really uncomfortable to leave just dangling. For the past year or so, I switched to wearing sports bras pretty much all the time, unless I'm really dressing up. I just find them so much more comfortable.

I don't too much care about how they look, since I haven't been on a date in about a year, so it's not like anyone else is going to see them.

I can't stand bras and only wear them outside of the house to avoid nipplage (I'm a size a) Bras chafe my nipples terribly and by the end of the day (or long before then) I'm dying to get out of them. It's extremely distracting and makes me fiddle like crazy, which doesn't help.

It's also very hard to find bras in my size because I'm slightly tall but with the small bust. I don't care what it looks like so long as it fits.

I have to wear a bra because my breasts are so gigantic that if I didn't they would sag ridiculously, and I don't like the way that looks. Either way it kinda hurts having huge tits (not that bad and it doesn't hurt my back, though it does make it hard to keep correct posture), but it hurts considerably less having them in a bra.

So it's not really an option for me. Sometimes in the morning I go around without one but I hunch over a lot more that way, the only time I don't wear one is when I sleep. I have to have underwire too, I don't know any other way I can keep my boobs in the bra without them slipping out underneath. Isn't that what the underwire is for?

I only own two or three because it's hard finding ones that fit and they're usually kinda expensive. I started buying them online because the website I order from (barenecessities.com I think it was) has a good fitting guide and I can just measure myself and get them in the mail. I don't feel comfortable getting a stranger to measure me and I hate bra shopping in real life because it makes me feel horrible for having large breasts (but I usually feel like I'm made to feel bad for having huge tits, there's like, a huge backlash against big boobs now it seems). Most stores that carry lingerie or bras don't have anything over a C cup and you know what, they can all go fuck themselves. Maybe I want a cute matching bra and panty set but I can't find any in my size. I also hate how every manufacturer assumes you're overweight if you have large tits. I'm not, I'm within my BMI and I wear medium sized panties

Ideally it would be nice to have bras in near patterns with like, polka dots or lovely floral or lavender or something but I just get the grandma beige and regular white, it's my punishment for having big breasts of course

I always have a bra on even when I sleep.

I got a couple of bras professionally fitted which cost a lot of money, the rest I just bought whenever there was a sale at H&M an so on.

I tend to use either skin coloured bras or black ones, no patterns or anything, because I am boring and I'm paranoid about my bra showing through my clothes.

I do wear a bra when I'm not at home. (Bra comes off as soon as I get home.) I have to unless I want to bounce around unseemly-like.

I just had to go bra shopping the other day and it was so annoying. Finding something that fits and is comfortable is practically impossible. I wear what fits. Underwire is a necessity. I typically look for tan or pink in color so I can wear white/light color shirts and not worry about people seeing my bra through my shirt. I don't care about matching my underwear.

My bras are boring. They're just there to hold my tits up and in.

I hate wearing bras most of the time, I find them hugely uncomfortable (and YES, I wear the correct size! I have them measured regularly!), and I tend to take them off asap when I get home.

I do acknowledge that some bras do excellent things for the way my boobs look, and I definitely match bras to outfits for maximum effect. And if I have to wear the damn things, they might as well look nice, so I do tend to go bra-shopping regularly.

But I also do go out without a bra on pretty regularly, because honestly I don't care if anyone can see my nipples.

I started developing very early for my generation, which freaked me out, and made me very unhappy, and I hoped I would be blessed with small boobs, but no, I wound up with the family trait of LOTSA boob, so I have to wear bras.

I refuse to wear underwires, no matter how 'pretty' they make my boobs look, because, seriously, I'm not looking to attract anything other than that stray dog or cat who needs a helping hand. And underwires (a) cut into my skin and (b) have been linked to breast cancer. I hate that I can't find fun bras in my size and have to get boring beige, white, or black, and none of them are pretty. I don't get why women over B cups (in the States) don't get a chance to have fun/pretty, relatively inexpensive bras, because I cannot afford tons and tons of money on bras, any more than I can afford tons and tons of money on anything at this point, other than transportation costs.

I'd wear sports bras, particularly where I work (retail), but if I got another decent office job, I'd want 'normal' bras to wear with nice office type clothes again.

I wore the wrong size for many years, so before a wedding this year I was professionally fitted. It makes a difference! :O

I have fairly large breasts (DD or D depending on the maker) but they are proportionate to my height/frame. Sometimes it's hard finding my low band size in anything not an A or B. But DD/D is pretty much the cut-off where you still will find some cute bras/swimwear in stores and not be restricted to specialty shops/online. I did discover that after wearing Cs wrongly for years that Ds and DDs are often more expensive! One price for A-C, and then everything after that goes up exponentially!

My favorite bra is by Felina. I don't have a lot of natural cleavage, so I like the kind that are known as "spacer" bras. It's pretty cute too, pink and black.

I don't own any matching bras and panties. Does anyone ever really do that on a regular basis? I guess I do have both white and black bras and underwear but they're not sets or anything.

The closest to getting a professional fitting was when I was in high school and my friends and I went to Victoria's Secret to get fitted. They did an incorrect fitting because I'm sure they don't carry my size, so instead they just rounded down to the biggest size they carry. I want to get professionally fitted since I've recently purchase three bras with different sizes and none fit me well. Two are too small and one is too big. So I'm guessing I'm a 42G/DDDD or 42H (US measurements).

I love cute patterns and pretty colors, but I like having plain bras as well. I prefer to never match bras with undies. I like lacy bras too, makes me feel sexy. It's hard to find a bra that lifts and separates as well, I love push-up bras when they fit me well.

I wear bras when I go out, but when I'm being lazy around the house, I like being bra free, most times. When it's hot and I'm feeling gross, wearing a bra makes me feel better. It's always so difficult to go bra shopping, I agree, but I'm on the opposite end. I can never find bra sizes any bigger than 38/40DD and they're way too small for me.

I have smallish (Bcup) breasts, but they are rather full so not wearing a bra is usually uncomfortable for me, even if I'm just going to lay around the house. I like having the support, and honestly I sweat under my boobs and it feel REALLY gross if I don't have a bra on.

I'm a 42D and it hurts if I don't wear a bra. I've been trying to go without one more often and have made it to the point that I can sit at my desk without one for a few hours but if I get up and walk more than a few feet, I'm in pain. I toss and turn in my sleep, so I have to wear one then, too. Since I have sensitive skin, lacy bras are my enemy but any other kind is pretty much ok. I usually just buy the $9 cotton Fruit of the Loom ones without an underwire because they're cheap, comfortable, and I can just throw them in the washing machine and dryer along with my other clothes.

Re: BRAS (mild TMI warning, maybe??)

Fruit of the Loom, 90% cotton, 10% lycra, underwire, hooks in the back, seamless cups, no padding, all one color bras with no embellishments. And I like them in the nude color so that I can wear them under almost anything without any show through (I do have white and pink ones too because they didn't have enough nude ones in my size). They are pretty comfortable - I can't handle bras with the seams across the cups or any sort of embroidery because it irritates my skin.

Hate bras, never wear them if i can get away with it. I'm small - b cup - so didn't have to for a long time. Now that i've had a kid *and* gained a little weight, i need to wear one if what i'm wearing is clingy or thin, or if i'm going to be active - i don't like bouncing! But mostly i never wear one.

I like those built-in bras in tanks in the summer, and soft sport-type bras, and *very* occasionally an underwire. I do *not* wear padded bras. And sine i hate them so much, i buy very cheap so they're usually a solid color, plain stuff.

My daughter got all the girly and she has fancy ass bras with polka dots and lace and whatnot.

I'm pretty damn flat (36AAs) with a muscular chest, so I don't really need a bra. I have no boobhang or sag - the girls sit exactly where they sit on my chest with or without a bra. I go days without one and when I do wear one, it's usually just a sports bra because I hate underwire. And the only reason I do that is because it's socially unacceptable for some dumb unknowable reason for a woman to show the outline of her nipple through her shirt (though for guys it's a-ok).

I really wish it wasn't expected of me. And while we're at it, I wish I could go topless, too.

I am a 44G (US sizing) and not wearing a bra results in my nipples being uncomfortably close to my waistline, so I tend to wear one unless I am not leaving the house all day and no one will see me except the spouse. I struggled for years finding bras that were comfortable, partly because my mother refused to get me a bra until I was a C-cup and she kept buying me B's for some bizarre reason, so for my first ten years of bra-wearing I was used to wearing a size too small. By the time I finally worked that out, I was well out of the department-store sizes, and it's hard to buy bras by mail-order since you can't try them on. I finally found a brand/style I like and that fits consistently - no underwire (they always have the wrong curve for my chest shape), mostly cotton, double-layered in the front but no padding. They're not perfect - they have a mid-cup seam, which is annoying, but they're the best I've found and they periodically make new colors.

I have several white ones because when you get a multi-pack one of them is always white, but I prefer jewel-tones and dark colors - if a strap shows accidentally, it seems less embarrassing if it isn't obviously underwear by the color. I have threatened several times to buy an all-white multi-pack of the cotton ones and then tie-dye them, but I haven't actually done it yet.

my chest isn't particularly large or small, but it feels more comfortable to wear a bra because i don't like having my nipples show through my clothing. i like bras with lots of support because i have a sensitive chest. i don't particularly care about colors or patterns or whatever, as long as they're wearable and fit right.

Re: BRAS (mild TMI warning, maybe??)

36 G, and I hate wearing bras and avoid it when possible. Unfortunately, this generally means I can be bra-less at home, but having to put one on if I'm going out in public and not wearing a huge coat. It's kind of noticeable otherwise, given their size and also that I have really large nipples.

I had less of an aversion to wearing bras back when I decided to splurge and actually dropped like $200 on three bras that fit properly, but I'm incredibly broke atm, so I tend to have to make due with old bras that are mostly worn out or buying bras that don't really fit but I can kind of make work if pressed. And here is where I wish that bras were a lot cheaper, especially for people who don't wear the "average" sizes.

I wear one, 24/7 unless in the bath, and I prefer them in plain black, because at my ridiculous size it's pretty much only a choice between that and beige or white. Underwire because I need the support, no padding because lol they're big enough, nylon because the sizes are usually too small in my preferred cotton, and I can find them on sale or pretty cheap in certain stores if I dedicate an afternoon to trying on every goddamn bra they have. Seriously, every brand has a different idea of how my size should fit me, it's like the worst treasure hunt ever. And what with being broke and my size constantly changing, I never have more than a few bras at a time that still fit, if any.

I need to try out sports bras again. Only reason I hesitate is because the last one I had smashed my tits together something stupid, so I've got my eye on brands said to prevent uniboob.
