YMMV, OP. I mean, I'm not sure I'd like someone exploring the every crevice of my mouth with their tongue, but I happen to like making out with tongue. Like, a lot. Which is why I write it, because I find it pretty hot.

But kissing's like sex, OP. Some things that work for some people don't work for everyone, it doesn't mean you haven't been kissed right, it might just mean that's not what you're into.

My tongue is all little and I can barely poke it out of my mouth, let alone explore every crevice of another person's. But, some people have long tongues that can conceivably do some deep probing.

It depends on what mood I'm in if I'm in to getting mouthfucked by a long tongue. Sometimes it can be fun.

It's better than the whole "lips crashing together" thing that pervades 90% of fic. Seriously, there's teeth not far away from the lips and if two people ram their mouths together that hard then somebody's going to get a smack in the face from some badly placed enamel.

Eh, some people really like kissing, some don't. I fall firmly into the latter category. I just am not a big fan of it. People typically have awful breath, and you rarely get passionate kissing right after someone's brushed their teeth. I have a really heightened sense of smell, so this really grosses me out and completely detracts from the kiss most of the time.

Tongue kissing is fun, but it can get a little tiring after a while. I don't like feeling like I'm about to get eaten or vice versa.

Whenever shipping fic gets into tongue kissing I skim. I've never tried it before but the thought of someone else's tongue in my mouth (or vice-versa) makes me gag.

I chalk phrases like that up to bad writing. It happens a lot-- people just vomit out text without really thinking about what it means or how it sounds, how weird the word choice is, etc.

MKINYKATOK. I really, really like kissing with tongue, but some people are really not very good at it, and some people aren't into it. (The snippet you gave there suggests to me that both Character A and Character B are really inexperienced at it, though. One person doing all the probing isn't much fun, IMHO.)

Overused phrases like that really take me out of a fic, regardless of...how something like that would actually feel in real life. If two characters start making out and suddenly there are "crevices" explored and (oh, my personal favorite) someone "begging entrance," I'm out.

I hate it when people force their tongues inside my mouth. More often than not they usually slobber over my lips, which is super gross. Not regular gross. Super gross.

Men are the worst offenders. I've had better luck kissing women, but alas, I am not a lesbian.

"Not that fun" ??? WTF? For me, personally, kissing is one of my (if not absolute) favorite things related to sexy-times, to get up to. I've been told that I'm "A little over-enthusiastic, but good." at kissing [even though my current boyfriend, is the only other person I've ever kissed, so... maybe he's just being nice. :\]. Can't help it. I find kissing fun, and it gets me going better than anything else.

I think it's just a matter of taste (...haha) whether you like snogging or not. Same as any other form of physical... stimulation, be it sexual or not. I personally kind of like it even though I'm asexual. I think for me it's kind of a matter of curiosity as much as anything else. It's no different than hugging, only it can last longer without being awkward.
