first off I'm sorry. I misspoke and spoke harshly and wrongly and for that I apologize. Also it's not an excuse for being as ass about it but I was referring to the "hardcore" types

I could say I'm childfree, as I'm not planning on having children (for health reasons). Yeah I don't know much probably, and the most I've gotten is a "but you would have such cute kids" and "I think you;ll be fine as a mom" which I honestly just take as family members trying to reassure me against my worries.

Wow the "broken if you're a woman" thing sounds really...messed up. and I don't get how anyone not wanting to have or choosing not to have children selfish? I mean if you don't think you're a good person to have a parent that's actually probably a good thing isn't it? Or if you just don't want to or fear that you would pass on serious or painful health problems.

Nobody's under any obligation to reproduce. geez :/

My first fandom, at like eleven, was SG-1 and then Due South. Back then it seemed like everyone was married with kids or at least in their thirties and I always felt like the kid tagging along to eavesdrop on the adult conversations instead of playing outside with the other kids (which I totally did in real life too) so years and years and dozens of fandoms later I continue to be surprised when I find out people in my new fandoms are in their twenties or even younger.

ETA: even here I continue to assume, after all the age threads that mostly show different, that everyone is older and wiser than me.

actually I think they were just correcting a misconception I made, which is not really wrong. I mean if someone said something like "X people have no real problems" there's nothing wrong with correcting them. I actually respect that they did it nicely ,which you don't see enough in online conversations.

Hmm... Maybe it's because lately I've been hanging around tumblr, and as much as I like it for art and graphics, Fili and Kili and Thorin dominant the fandom. (Basically the hot dwarves, lol.) Elrond feels pretty much forgotten. And like I said, Thranduil has his fair share of art (mostly to do with his elk/moose/whatever), but beyond that I wasn't aware of his popularity.
