I totally agree. If you look at most media made in a specific country, a lot of it is going to be centered on the culture of and a lot of things specific to the country that its made in. It's generally more noticeable with American media just because there's more of it, but a lot of movies and shows that I've seen that are made in Canada, Japan, Australia, France, Mexico, China, etc. are the same way.

Some people treat it as a uniquely bad thing when American media does it, though, while denying that anyone else does it. The double standard is pretty obvious.

In my experience, people in my generation (teens and college kids) care quite a lot about it. Maybe it's a geographical location thing, though, I'm in a fairly conservative area of the south.

Write them down, or just record them anywhere. I always scoffed at it as stupid and needless, but it does make a difference! I made a list of fitness goals and keep it as a sticky on my desktop, so every time I turn on my computer I get a reminder on what I want to accomplish. This year I'm gonna make physical stickies and post 'em near my bed. Corny as fuck, but I can't afford real decorations, so up they go!

Also, set small, frequent ones so your more long-term goals don't seem impossible. You'll feel more successful when you make progress. Good luck!
