Jake the dad (Spoilers)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-09 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I...really did not like this episode. I was a little uneasy with the pregnancy plot to start with, but then they turned a major thing like that into a filler episode. So...Jake's pups are now older than he is, what? It was only a few days. And if his pups are older than he is than how old is Lady? She must be insanely old compared to Jake if they age that quickly.

Meh.

Hey--don't put spoilers in a direct response to General Comments if you can help this. I would've been spoiled completely if I'd hit the little 2 link and hadn't seen it already.

Don't read a post that is labeled (spoilers) if you don't want to be spoiled :P

bad form

(Anonymous) 2013-01-10 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
It's kind of bad form to put it as the first comment. It won't ever collapse and is kind of hard not to see, even skimming by.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-10 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
If you read an entire paragraph that has a spoiler header than it's your own fault.

Not if you, like, pay attention to shit long enough to notice "Hey, there's a warning here and I probably want to not look at this area of text, like, AT ALL.".

Except you didn't even mention what the spoilers were for. Putting an episode name isn't enough, come on.

Re: Jake the dad (Spoilers)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-10 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, yes I did. Jake the dad is the name of the episode.

It's not someone else's fault that people are too lazy to read a title and spoiler warning. The name of the episode is in the title. Don't be lazy next time?

Re: Jake the dad (Spoilers)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-10 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, please. If you know there's something you don't know about a series and don't want to be spoiled, the onus is on you to avoid potential spoilers by avoiding talk of said series -- ESPECIALLY when it includes a spoiler warning, so you know some plot element is going to be up for discussion.

I'm with the people downthread :/ I didn't see the spoilers sign because my computer skimmed down to your comment and I hadn't seen the episode yet.

I'm not really big about spoilers so I'm not too bummed out, but other people might have stronger feelings than me.

Anon, it's just in bad form to do what you did. You're supposed to respond to your own comment and make it collapsible for the courtesy of others, and you're supposed to wait for the thread to start filling up before you put in your spoilery thread. It's common comm courtesy and everyone else uses it.

Don't be an ass. Posting spoilers in the very first, non-collapsed comment was pretty shitty and you know it.

It is in good form not to read something before you read the title for it, as you will save yourself from such issues.

The title doesn't even say Adventure Time.

Re: Jake the dad (Spoilers)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-10 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, kind of annoying. I'm trying to avoid spoilers so I didn't read, but then any time I want to start a thread or whatever I have to carefully avoid looking at the paragraph while trying to hit the "reply" to GC and...just annoying.

Next time maybe wait a few minutes to put it further down in the comments?

I figured they were going to do something like that because I couldn't envision the show turning into "Jake now lives with Lady and takes care of puppies" LOL. It feels a bit like an easy way out of the implications of the ep though.

That said, I love love love Jake being uber protective dad and his great big watery eyes of love as he watched the pups. That was super sweet and hit me right in the pregnant lady hormones.

OMG this thread! It's not OP's fault if people don't keep track of episode titles. Plus it is widely known that this whole comm is full of spoilers, so stop complaining about one thread that is correctly identified as having spoilers mentioned in it. The OP did their part so why the complaining?

I didn't like Jake in this episode, he was worrying more than Rainicorn and he should have followed her lead, considering she did birth the corndogs. And Rainicorn isn't very observant, considering Jake was falling asleep and dead tired when she told him to take the kids out. And that buttface one... I just don't even.

Also sad none of them looked like Bender lol

Re: Jake the dad (Spoilers)

OP didn't list the fandom, just the name of the episode (which contained a fairly generic character's name). I didn't realize what fandom it was until I actually read the content of the comment, and by then I had skimmed enough to be spoiled.

seriously would it have killed the op to put in the subject

"Adventure Time Spoilers"

or

"spoilers for the latest episode of Adventure Time"

or

"Adventure Time, Jake the dad spoilers" (although just "Jake the dad" is spoilery but bleh my problem is that they didn't list what series the spoilers were for)

If characters always made the right choices there would be no plot. Jake learned later that he was worrying too much. And Rainicorn knew what was up. She just knew it was something Jake had to learn on his own.

I thought he was cute as the nervous new father and I liked the ending.

Best part was the butterfly's reaction when Jake said it had germs.

Also a buttface unicorn dog is not the weirdest thing this show has come up with.

That's fine, but I still don't agree with the direction this episode took with Jake.

Yeah, it did feel like kind of a cop-out. If they were going to write out the babies like they did Amy and Kif's kids on Futurama, then I do not think the pregnancy plot should have been introduced as early or given as much weight. I knew they were not going to alter the core Finn+Jake dynamic of the show, but it was kind of frustrating to not see them do anything with it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the babies show up as recurring characters though. They're just adults now, it's not like they died.
