This rant is probably going to be only tangentially related, because you're probably not the kind of person I'm talking about here. And I'm sure you aren't just talking about female pubic hair, either.

I can understand if someone is legitimately disgusted by pubic hair. Some body parts and functions disgust me, too. What really bothers me is that there seems to be the expectation in general for women to be completely hairless, and I don't get it. If you just have a hairless vagina fetish, fine, whatever. But if you're that guy who demands that your girlfriend and all women shave their vagina or be in danger of being completely disgusting? I'm side-eyeing you. I go on TinyChat and Stickam with my friends sometimes (probably my own mistake), and it disgusts and baffles me how many men just come out and ask me if I'm shaved down there, and when I say no, proceed to tell me that I need to go shave myself, because pubic hair is dirty and disgusting and I'm dirty and disgusting for having it. WAT? I'M 23. I HAVE PUBIC HAIR, FFS. Why are you so fucking entitled that you think it's okay to demand of any woman, including ones that you're not dating, what to do with her own body? Watching men talk about womens' body parts and how they need to change them in order to become physically attractive for them, despite the risk or their personal opinions on THEIR OWN BODY, is one of my hugest pet peeves. Why are you so entitled? Do you really think that it's my job to be completely hairless everywhere at all times just in order to be physically attractive for some guy that I don't even know? I've even been told this by men irl. Just a couple of months ago, some guy on TC was trying to tell me that I wasn't allowed to get a breast reduction (because my friend and I were talking about getting breast reductions in our room) because the size of my breasts are uncommonly large, and "I'm not allowed to because it makes men happy to see them, and it's my job as a woman to be attractive for men".

Sorry, endrant. Allow me to indulge my many, many feelings, F!S. ;~; I know this is only slightly related to OP's post, but this is what it reminded me of. I'm aware that OP is probably not one of these people, and is mostly likely just really squicked out by pubic hair.

Ughhh this - in, yes, a completely tangential sense.

Oh man. When I saw people responding, I took a deep breath and got ready to defend what I said. I'm glad someone else feels the same way/has noticed the same thing. =/

+100000

Yeah. The "well I expect you to shave" conversation is one a potential partner (especially a dude) has to tread very lightly with me on, because the wrong answer (i.e., the sort of responses you mentioned here) disqualifies them instantly from entering my muffin shop.

I fucking lost it when you said "muffin shop". (I wonder if that's what Emilie Autumn calls her vagina.)

Anyway, I agree. If you're just a guy who likes how it looks, whatever, maybe I'll shave it sometimes for you. But if you're trying to dictate how my body looks, despite my personal feelings about it, because you want to be sexually aroused? You can go find yourself another bald vagina.

(That being said, I don't really understanding what's so great about it anyway, unless you really, really like performing oral sex on women. I asked my dad about this and he said that he personally prefers pubic hair and can't understand why men nowadays want women to shave.)

I agree with you so much about this, but I'm of an older generation, probably closer to your Dad's age, I can't bear that these men are policing women's bodies, and I do think the world has become more sexist again, it's like it's going backwards.

If it helps I once read an internet forum about it, and the men were all saying they prefer pubic hair, they felt it was more fragrant (hah) and mostly they found shaved pubes had a chicken skin effect (which I agree with, I think it looks awful shaved. ) A lot of them did like some kind of waxing, trimming, but they said they were usually so grateful to be getting sex that they didn't even care! Thing is this was a forum where the men are probably more into their 30s or so, but still I got the feeling it was women policing themselves in this case and men not really bothered.
