Your least favorite episode of your favorite shows

(Anonymous) 2013-02-07 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Even shows you really love have episodes you don't like. Try to pick out your least favorite episode of each of your favorite shows and explain why you don't like it. Just really boring? Really stupid? The characters behave OOC? Some really stupid wallbanger happens? The plot is painfully crappy?

Supernatural's the wedding episode. You know the one with Sam and Becky. Hated that episode with a passion. It turned the once sweet, supergeeky fangirl, Becky, into a psychopath. Sam was sexually assaulted because he was under a spell but it was played up for laughs! Ha! Ha! Sam thinks he is in love with Becky. And they are making out against his free will. Oh, female on male sexual assault is such fun. And Dean was not himself at all. (No way would he have let Sam alone with Becky if this had been a normal episode.) And then there was Garth...who I hated because he was such an incompetent hunter that he was annoying. (He has since grown on me after he became Bobby Jr and found a niche in the hunting world that he is really good at.)

But there was nothing that I liked in that episode.

UGH THIS except Garth, I've always enjoyed Garth despite myself. But this was seriously the worst episode ever. WORSE THAN BUGS.

+1

Becky was horrible in that episode. She went from being awesome and in love with Chuck to assaulting Sam. I was horrified while I watched that episode. Some writers seem to like having Sam in sexual situations that don't have his consent, which creeps me out.

But yeah, Garth is awesome now :)

I actually liked Garth from the beginning, I think he's sweet.

But yeah, the wedding episode. Female-on-male rape is so funny! Hahaha! Ntm what one of the writers tweeted recently - female torture is naked for the ratings! Sorry you thought it was an actual torture thing! We'll just torture Samandriel in ways that won't require him to take off his shirt because that's just not okay.

Hey, that's the episode that convinced me to stop watching Supernatural for good! I mean, there were several horrible episodes before that, but that's the one that finally broke the proverbial camel's back.

Episode 13: Isolated pawn of Last Exile. Partly because I just find Claus boring as a character, and protagonist, but this episode shows a lot of what I've come to think of as "Claus induced female weakness syndrome" and is the start of an irritating, pointless love triangle that is never resolved.

I was never quite sure why so many ladies were in love with Claus when they had Alex to stare at all day. I mean he is the epitome of fine.

Eye candy he may be, but I can see where his personality could be kind of off putting. Still Alex/Sophia OPT forever.

For Lavie, or Taitana I always thought Mullin was a much better choice, he was after all not terminally completely oblivious to the feelings of the girls around him.

"Up The Long Ladder" from Star Trek TNG. Riker and Pulaski murder their own clones and it's portrayed as totally justified because they were freaked about the idea of a copy of themselves running around.

"And The Children Shall Lead" from Star Trek TOS. Because it's just that damn boring.

I could throw half the episodes of season 5-7 of The West Wing out of existence and be very happy about it, but Here Today probably takes the cake for sheer concentrated offensive awful.

Toss-up between "Journey's End," and "The Angels Take Manhattan" for new Doctor Who. Probably "Journey's End" if I really had to pick.

Toss-up between The Rough Patch and Twin Beds for How I Met Your Mother, speaking of episodes I can't even think of without cringing.

Hmmm...I'm too lazy to think of any more right now...

The Angels Take Manhattan just blew my brain over how bad and stupid it was. (Really, in a city of over eight million people, no one noticed a 150ft statue walking down the street making a huge racket as she went along? No one?)

Re: Your least favorite episode of your favorite shows

My main problems with it was that for one, it made NO sense given the rules of time travel that had been long established in the show and that Moffat himself had hammered home particularly hard throughout the entire last season. I mean, by the episode's logic, it should have been impossible to remove the monster in the window from the Van Gogh painting. And what, River Song can rip apart the whole universe to find a loophole in order to not kill the Doctor and still make everything fine in the end, but the Ponds apparently can't put their own gravestones up early, twiddle their thumbs for a few months, and then go to Staten Island, or Pennsylvania, or the other side of the continent if they have to, so the Doctor can pick them up outside of the paradox zone?

And that's just from an in-universe perspective. That's ignoring the fact that The Power of Three was a perfectly-characterized, thematically resonant send-off that was a nice fresh take on companion departures for New Who, and made a wonderful amount of sense for all the characters involved and their shared history, so Angels was just a steaming pile of "yeahbuhwha?" coming after that.

And oh, I think I've made the connection: both Angels and Journey's End completely crapped all over every scrap of narrative elegance, emotional meaning, and respect for the supporting characters, for the sole purpose of making the Doctor extra-depressed for the next stories Moffat and RTD were planning. That must be why I hate them both so much.

Ugh. Up the Long Ladder.

At least that one is slightly mitigated by being early TNG, though. I'll raise you The Perfect Mate - the episode in which the Enterprise engages in human trafficking, and only Beverly has any problem with it. Gross, gross episode.

So with you on Doctor Who.

I cut Journey's End some slack because it looks like RTD at least tried. He failed spectacularly, but he tried.

The Angels Take Manhattan is 90% old Moffat material, and 10% plot holes. It looks like Moffat wrote it completely hungover, with the telly on, in about two hours to meet a deadline. The smug bastard knows it doesn't make sense, and he doesn't give a fuck. And I'm usually a fan of his, not a hater at all.

(Doctor Who)

I loathe the episodes with the Slitheen, I always skip them when rewatching.

And I'm not too fond of the cybermen either, but some of their episodes are ok.

Oh, and Love and Monsters is so bad it becomes good.

Love and Monsters was friggin hilarious and oddly creepy somehow at the same time. I'm not quite sure how that happened. I am pretty sure it's not what they intended though.

I actually really liked parts of Love and Monsters. The whole outsiders' perspective on the Doctor angle, and Victor Kennedy and his exCEEEEEMa, and Jackie chewing Elton out and talking about what it's like being a companion's mother. But the whole stupid fandom crap and the Absorbaloff and the awful fucking ending really killed it.

That episode in season 2(?) of Fringe that was about the computer virus that made people's brains meeeeeelt!
It was pretty stupid even for 'Fringe', and it disappointed me because it was the episode with the highest concentration of 'The Wire' actors :(

I am going say it. The Doctor Who episode Blink. Hated it. It was so friggin' boring. Ugh.

You are the first person ever I've seen disliking Blink.
(which is totally fine, I obviously knew someone somewhere wouldn't like it but I have never encountered myself)

'Wrongs Darker than Death or Night' in Deep Space 9. Major Kira finds out that her mother used to shag Gul Dukat. You know, the guy that's been doing his level best to hit on her for a while. Not only that, Kira goes back in time to witness this firsthand. The whole episode was offensively stupid and she really didn't need this as part of her story.

I cannot get through the third episode of Cabin Pressure, "Cremona". Listened to it the first time, and have literally been unable to finish it again. The actress character is absolutely horrible, the cringe comedy is horrible, the scheme is suuuuuuper zaney, the horde of fanboys is annoying, and Martin acts like a moron. Blech.

DS9- gotta be "Meridian". The Goddamn Brigadoon planet. That plot is awful-- Jadzia is a romantic, but her symbiont gives her a great wisdom and foresight that is completely missing in this episode. She'd abandon everything for 60 years (not long for Dax but most of Jadzia's lifetime) with some random dude she just met in a pocket universe?! And the subplot with Jeffrey Combs (not as Weyoun or Brunt) with a creepy crush on Kira is just not fun either. There's ONE laugh in the thing and it's an awkward laugh at that. Oh, and Ira Behr says of it, "I am a moron" and he is correct.

Fringe- "Alone in the World". Not a good episode, but it still has moments. John Noble is a fine, fine actor as always, and Astrid, Broyles, and Lincoln get more to do than the average episode. But the fringe event is really stupid. Emotional connections are an important running theme, but empathic fungi?! Hahahaha! The child actor unfortunately gives a pretty bad performance, but he doesn't have much to work with. The writers are really hand-wavy as to why the kid doesn't have ANY guardian so they can justify him staying with Walter. Not one I'll rewatch a lot.
