It's pretty amusing to see a Joe Hill secret when I bought Horns and Thumbprint on my Kindle not even two days ago! I'd been meaning to read some of his stuff for a while; I took Heart-shaped Box at the library a couple of years ago but didn't had the chance to finish it at the time. I finished reading Thumbprint last night and the ending made me RAGE SO MUCH it's not even funny.

I'm really hoping the same thing isn't going to happen with Horns.

I'm not even going to compare King and Hill though! Sure, not all of King's books are masterpieces, but I have yet to find one that didn't at least entertain me. He's my favorite author, and I think that won't change any time soon. :D

Is Thumbprint new? I haven't heard of it.

I'm going to warn you though, as someone who really liked Hill's Heart-Shaped Box, I really disliked Horns. It started off well but then just went downhill...I don't think I finished it.

I don't think I got far enough into Heart-shaped Box to really get into the story, so I don't think I'll really be able to compare them! I'm just a couple of pages into Horns, but so far I like the style. We'll see... :)

Amazon tells me Thumbprint was published in 2008. It's a short story though, and I'm not sure how it was published on paper since I personally bought it for my Kindle. The reviews for it are pretty good so I think I may have to reread it eventually, but I think my main problem with it was really the ending. If you've read Stephen King's Cell... it's that kind of ending (which is a bit weird because Cell's ending didn't enraged me half as much!).
