Re: Sexist/stereotypical things you still find hot/romantic

I don't have any.

I like it when things are subverted. Like a girl carrying an unconscious or traumatized guy.

I like that a lot, and I also like the equal version: a girl carrying a girl or a guy carrying a guy. The guy-carrying-girl...eh, it does nothing for me.

This! I enjoy subverting cliches and fairy-tale-tropes. Usually with things going all fine and then in the middle something new happens. Sometimes I just think of fairy-tales and subvert them in my head for pure enjoyment with no intent to write it down, I love doing that so much.

I fall so hard for this too.

Especially if it's only in the little details.

I am a huge fan of subversion, too. Granted, I'm mostly into slash, so some things end up a bit subverted anyway, but certain slash tropes, like The Height Rule, I'm very happy to see subverted.

(Also, one of my favorite things about A:TLA was the fact that Sokka unabashedly loved SHOPPING and it wasn't treated as something abnormal ;U; WE CAN BE SHOPPING BROS, SOKKA~)

YES. ME LIKE.

I started a femslash fic, and realized that while I'm kinda skeeved out if a man is much more physically powerful than the woman in a relationship... I totally love the idea of an obviously stronger (older) woman and her more fragile (younger) partner.

Actually, lots of stuff works for me between two gals that would creep me out in a het relationship. Is that hypocritical?

Yep, it's the same for me. There are quite a few tropes I side-eye in het but enjoy in femslash or slash.

(It's kind of the same in real life actually, there are quite a few gestures etc. that I find endearing and charming in another woman but would get a man a reply along the lines of "nope, I can do that myself, thank you very much. And you do know that your chances of getting anywhere with me just sank, don't you?")

if a man is much more physically powerful than the woman

This is actually my "sexist thing I still find hot." /o\ ...But only in fiction. I had a boyfriend who was much bigger than me once and I hated it.

Is that hypocritical?

Technically, yes. But given societal baggage, it's pretty damn understandable.

I'd say it can be more of a problem in the other direction: if a girl does X action that you would find creepy in a guy but you find it fine in a girl, you might be judging the girl too leniently, rather than judging the guy too harshly (due to all that other societal baggage about women being inherently ineffectual and passive).

I love subverted tropes. Especially in het pairings, the sterotypical things do nothing for me, but I also like subversion of tropes in slash and femslash pairings, i.e. the character perceived as weaker protecting the "stronger" character.

I like it when either half of a romantic pair carries their fallen/injured other. Doesn't matter what the combination is. Or even a couple that is just particularly ship teasing.
