But I love freckles. I have them in profusion, and I love them on everyone else. Nobody needs to be ashamed of them.

Freckles are great, except my freckles (I just have way too many of the fucking things).

Still, I've never understood why they're regarded as a negative in themselves, or why there's not more characters with them. Doesn't make a lick of sense.

I think freckles are cute!

I actually like the fact that Rapunzel only has the freckles on one side of her nose. Think about it. That's probably the side that always faced outwards as she sat at her window.

I always thought freckles were adorable. In a work i'm doing I gave both my protagonists freckles. I wish they were more popular.

Someone once referred to them as a "beauty flaw" and it made me sad.

I've always really liked freckles, to the point that when I was younger, I wished that I had them. The notion that freckles would take away from a person's beauty is odd to me. :-/

It's kind of hard for me to dig on freckles since I have a lot of random moles on my face and body (which yes, I know aren't exactly the same, but I've always disliked them and it kind of crosses over). I mean, I'm happy you're seeing more of yourself in kickass girls, but how do you learn to embrace your freckles, OP? I wish I could look at my face spots and feel pride rather than scramble for the concealer. :/

Can we have some appreciation for freckles on guys as well? Because freckles are just as sexy on guys.

Case in point, Jensen Ackles. He should be the poster boy for freckles on guys.

As someone with a moderate amount of dark freckles, I feel like they mostly make my skin look uneven, even when it'd be theoretically healthy and nice. I don't know if your sister feels the same way.

Those three girls have really nice, even skin and I wouldn't really characterize them as having the average sort of freckles, so maybe that's why she isn't noticing? For instance, Merida has curly hair, but she has very pretty, idealized (best) curly hair. It might not exactly convince curly-haired girls that their hair is nice if they don't like it... but I hope it does.

There's also Kim Pine from Scott Pilgrim, but that's not exactly a comic book for young people. Uh...Pippi Longstocking too.

Freckles are fab! I've always loved mine - I wish they weren't quite as subtle on my nose as they are, but I've still always thought I was lucky to have any at all, and seeing freckles on a character always makes me like them just a little bit more.

Everything is beautiful when you've got heroin(s).

Freckles are adorable.

The subtlety might be a limitation of the medium? It took them a while to learn how to make CGI humans not look creepy. Maybe if they make freckles darker, it makes it look bad.

I love freckles on girls (and on guys, but a little less so). The first girl I ever had a crush on had freckles, so I think I'll always have a fondness for them.

I LOVE FRECKLES. I LOVE ALL THE FRECKLES. I EVEN LOVE MY OWN.

When Tangled's concept art came out I was really excited that Rapunzel's design had freckles. It was cute and different. But I wished they were more visible, I couldn't even see them in the movie.

I understand why 2D animation wouldn't use freckles, after all you'd have to animate each one every time the character moved. 3D shouldn't have that problem though. So hopefully they'll pop up more often.

That's sweet that you feel that way because of your sister. I hope she grows to love her face.

Is there some correlation between freckles and red hair for real though, or is that just a media thing? Most of the heroines I know in media with freckles have red hair, too.

Freckles are pretty and definitely should be used more on fictional characters. I find them really cute and think they give a person character. I've got a few myself but most aren't on my face (which amuses me).

And you're a lovely, thoughtful person and a good sister. *hugs*

Man, I WISH I could get some freckles on my face! I have them all over my shoulders and upper arms but for some reason they just refuse to form on my face, and it makes me sad because I think freckles are adorable. :(

Gotta say, as someone with loads of freckles I barely noticed that any of those fine ladies even had them. It truly is nice to see little variations popping up in designs, though.

I like freckles on girls but I have the darker kind that you get fewer of but are more obvious. Are there many of those in animation?
