Honestly somebody 'dating' a fictional character at any age is possible, but I think it also depends on internet access. If you weren't exposed to fandom at early on...then certain social cues are harder to pick up on. I knew I was still having fun drawing self-inserts with me and my fictional husbando at 17. I knew it was just wishful thinking on my part, and I knew we weren't ACTUALLY DATING, but still.

Yeah, calling bullshit. Internet access wasn't available to me until I was 16 myself, and I still knew that pretending you were dating a fictional character was fucking stupid and pathetic unless you were ten or younger (even twelve is pushing it, sorry).
