i feel like op might be reacting to how people place multi-shipping above otp-shipping, which might rub otp-shippers the wrong way.

also, i sort of agree that shipping character A/everyone does not a multishipper make. I only consider people multi-shippers if they are able to at least ship a/b, a/c, and b/c simultaneously.

that was how i read it as well. it belongs in the same disingenuous branch as "ot3(4,5...) is the superior option!!1", imo.

I ship C/D, G/H, X/Y, B/V and Å/Ä in one of my fandoms, but I also ship A/B, A/C, A/D, A/E, A/F, A/H and A/I in that same fandom. Do I count as a multi-shipper, or am I just doing shipping wrong for mostly shipping A? Curious minds need to know.

Yeah there are a lot of fans that do that, and it's freaking irritating. There are also a fair amount of fans that think multi-shipping solves all problems and if you don't do it you're perpetuating wank... or something.

As for the second part, I don't really care why someone labels themselves a multishipper. If they say they're one, whatever that's fine with me. But that's why I don't consider myself a multishipper? For example I ship America from Hetalia with a few people, but not simultaneously. I like a few pairings as having occurred in the past, but just USxUK for WWII and beyond (thus it's my OTP).
