I don't suppose we could have a trigger warning for pregnancy? Tokophobic people read f!s.

Sorry for your loss, OP.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
You're trolling right?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
No, and the fact that I antipicated replies like yours speaks to the amount that tokophobia is taken seriously. That image caught me off guard and I felt extremely nauseous and horrified. But no one gives a shit because "you should think it's beautiful, what's wrong with you?"

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think that picture is incredibly disturbing but I don't go through life expecting to be shielded from things that may disturb, upset, or outright horrify me.

I certainly don't, but all the same, it's worth asking for a little warning first, at least here. No one would post explicit scenes of childbirth, for example, on f!s without warning first, so a warning for tokophobia seems only polite.

This. The world is not bubble-wrapped for anyone's convenience.

Kudos for sticking to your guns troll-y, but 0/10 for the entire ridiculous premise.

What do you think is ridiculous - requesting the trigger warning, or the pregnancy phobia? Because I assure you the latter is a real thing.

[personal profile] kallanda_lee 2013-03-06 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
No, tokophobia is a real thing. That picture creeps the hell out of me, too.

Though I do believe trigger warning for every little thing are silly.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I agree, that's not possible. But i think if it's a well-known phobia, like trypophobia, people respect it and trigger for it. But for less well known ones, it's like "lol just suck it up, we can't TW for EVERYTHING"

[personal profile] kallanda_lee 2013-03-06 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
My view on it is just that both on the internet and in real life there will always be things that trigger people. I don't really have "triggers" in that sense, but there are things that can quite affect me (like suicide, or self harm) because some of my own experiences. It really depends on how it's presented to me, but I don't really think it's everyone else responsibility to keep that stuff away from me.

That being said, it sucks if your tokophobia isn't taken seriously.

TW: Life

Well then we should just start putting a trigger warning for everything.

Exactly! I have pupaphobia and you don't see me getting all up in arms whenever I come across an unexpected puppet. Even if it canme break out in the cold sweats and have a panic attack. It's fucking life and you deal with it.

Fucking puppets. They terrify me. I don't flip out at people for showing me them though. I mean, yes, I will get mad when I tell people "I'm really afraid of puppets" and they insist on showing me something from Sesame Street or the Muppets with a "but how can you be scared of this?" But generally, if your phobia is uncommon, or even silly (I know it's a damn puppet, but urgh, they're unsettling) I think you should be prepared to deal with seeing it unexpectedly. (Another member of the crew dangling a damned puppet over my shoulder)

If you ever watch Criminal Minds, be very careful with the episodes from this season. Puppets have never been a Thing for me, and the ones they had a recent episode very literally turned my stomach. Gah.

(But yes, as has been pointed out, CM didn't warn for it, because they can't warn for everything. Nobody can.)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Trigger warnings are at Case's discretion, so this whole thread is irrelevant. You should reply to the very first comment in the entire post requesting a trigger warning.

FFS

(Anonymous) 2013-03-06 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
All I was asking for was a trigger warning for THIS site. Not "I can't function in society because pregnant bellies freak me out!" Not "I can't get over it and move on with my life unless someone hides these things from me!" Of course I fucking get over it and move on. Just like I do with any other phobia I have. The world doesn't stop because I see a disgusting pregnant belly.

All I was asking was a warning here, because I was caught off-guard. But clearly, it's much more fun to just stomp on people with rare phobias because nobody gives a fuck about us, because it's "not common enough". I'm sure there are SO many more people with trypophobia than tokophobia, right? Sarcasm. And yet, every little picture of clustered holes is TW'd. Which is how it should be. If you know someone in your audience is afraid of bees, you warn for bees. It's not "too rare" to matter. It's called having compassion.

Fuck all of you. You just like to jump on people you don't understand so you can make assumptions about their life. Go back to your emotional mutual-masturbation over homosexual relationships.

As was pointed out to you several times you didn't ask in the proper place. Leaving a comment in the secret's thread is an invitation for discussion, not a request to Case. I see that you never did bother asking him, but somehow found time for a malicious homophobic rant. Fandom!Secrets: you did it wrong.

Lol. Yes. Using the word "homosexual" to describe a relationship clearly = homophobia. Kneejerk fandom reactions at it again, I see.

You need counseling. And probably medication, too.
