If this is the anime however, nope, not even close. Go watch eps 17 and 21 of Sailor Moon S again.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-08 01:41 am (UTC)(link)Don't feel bad I think OP watched the dub too because they used "scouts" instead of "soldiers".

(Anonymous) 2013-03-08 01:43 am (UTC)(link)iirc, in the dub they were "close" cousins, but in the original show they were lesbian lovers and it was/is very close to actual text and not just subtext. Naoki even said so in an interview that they were canon. They had lines like, "Michiru, I told you I don't want to hear that kind of talk out of bed!", after M. teased H. about gaining weight after grabbing her and hauling her up after H fell off a cliff? building? And holding hands (heck in one ep, for Valentine's Day (or something like it) the ep had a contest for couples where one hid and stuck their hand out and their partner had to guess which hand was their partner's (Haruka quickly and clearly identified Michiru's hand and said it way too easy)), addressing each other w/o any of the suffixes (-chan, -san, etc.) at end of their names (that implies a very close intimacy in Japanese culture; mainly husbands and wives that are very, very close to each other was the way it was explained to me). Haruka gets jealous when Michiru flirts w/others, esp. Seiya, etc.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-08 02:16 am (UTC)(link)I really do wish they had split the two of them up more often, actually. The (very) few times that they were allowed to interact with other characters without each other were all pretty fun. (I will always regret the only time Michiru and Rei got partnered up was during the Nehelenia arc in Stars, they seem like they'd make a very good duo)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-08 03:13 am (UTC)(link)Second, I think you have fundamentally misunderstood Michiru's character. Haruka is the one who puts on the tough exterior, but is really very emotionally vulnerable and has trouble coping with the massive responsibilities of her mission. Michiru is traditionally feminine so people would stereotypically think she's the emotionally vulnerable one, but has an absolute will of steel. And although she knew the importance of their mission, she loved Haruka so much she tried to talk her out of accepting the transformation stick. She didn't want her to have to live with the kind of burden that multiple necessary sacrifices would cause. It's possible you haven't seen Stars yet (SPOILER ALERT if you haven't), but one more thing that solidifies her strong will is one of her last words in the series - "I can endure anything if I'm with you. Even the fires of Hell." She faces death head-on, fearlessly, because she completes Haruka as much as Haruka completes her.
I suspect you're trying to justify your ship to yourself more than anything else. If you watched the same series I did, there's no way you could say that Michiru has no personality otherwise. Ship Usagi/Haruka all you want. Just don't bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-08 03:29 am (UTC)(link)Man, let's be frank: Sailor Moon is about how a girl saves the world and gains a harem that is 99% women in the process.
