Re: Green Lantern (Spoilers!)
(Anonymous) 2013-03-10 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)But either way, I'm going to be all right with the ending. Either we get a badass female villain who was a serious and permanent physical threat to the heroes and didn't get brought back to the side of good just because some dude is in love with her (which is rare enough that I'm okay with some of the other issues with it), or we get a heartwarming story about faith, hope, and love (which is getting rarer and rarer in superhero stories).
On another note, anybody else appreciate the John/Jon Stewart joke? And GUY GARDNER? GUY GARDNER, man. That guy!

I really like Kyle, but I'm glad they did John instead. I doubt they'll show him, given the amount of time Giancarlo Volpe has spent griping on Twitter about the marketing department not wanting characters of color, but it was good to hear him sneak it in.
My baseless speculation on the ending is that Aya gets fully turned into Ion, regrets her actions, and uses the time thingy to erase herself and the Guardians' mistakes. Then we get an open ending hinting that memories and other stuff are coming back. Because I think OP is right: if she really has killed millions of people like Razer said, she's gone too far now for a normal redemption. And introducing a device like that is very much a Chekov's Gun: it's going to go off, and it can't go off in the evil way. And they did set up the "love is doing what's best for you lover" thing a bunch of times, so Razer having Ilana alive would be that particular gun going off regarding Aya's decision....

Re: Green Lantern (Spoilers!)
Oh, man, science-picking this universe is really fun, though! I once tried to calculate the ridiculous amount of matter that would have to be in the Maelstrom if it really encircled the entire Forgotten Zone, and the answer I came up with (based on estimated flight speeds) was "more matter than is in the entire observable universe" if I remember correctly. Not to mention that, if a Sector is months long from end to end, then even moderate distances should take weeks to fly, and a full loop of a patrol would take years!
But I do love the idea of Guardian Space. Ruling the entire universe like in the comics has always seemed pretty silly from a modern perspective, and putting vague limits on it makes perfect sense to me.
