[Wolf Children Ame & Yuki]

That was my reaction too. "PEOPLE ARE GONNA WRITE KNOTTING FIC AREN'T THEY".

Why do they go for animal sex? Because WHY NOT, my dear anon.

Yup. If people could shapeshift, some of them would bang each other in shifted forms. That's the human condition - finding new ways to fuck.

Can someone familiar with this series tell me if the character is an actual animal or just anthropomorphic? It's kind of hard to tell from this screenshot.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a movie. He can transform between man and wolf at will.

taotrooper: A fat cat youkai is posing sexy and making a Titanic reference (Nyanko-sensei / ou la la)

The werewolves in that movie can transform into both actual wolf and anthro. I imagine the furry shape is a transformation in between, not a 100% wolf or 100% human.

ETA: forgot to say that in this scene he was a furry and not a wolf-wolf.

Some people tie each other up with knots, some people dress up in costumes . . . There are all sorts of ways to spice up one's love life. I haven't watched the movie, but it sounds like it's consensual and doesn't cause any harm.

Some people tie each other up with knots, some people dress up in costumes . . .

and some people simply knot inside each other.

It's a movie, and a really beautiful, emotional, wonderful one at that. The sex isn't actually shown, either.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
You're missing out, though. The end of it will leave you sobbing, it's beautiful.
taotrooper: A girl magician is feeling a bit shocked (Trucy / OMG)

[personal profile] taotrooper 2013-03-13 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
They were quite cute together, but my jaw dropped when the sex scene was furry. Their first time together, and they cut to that right after the scene when he confessed he was a werewolf, even. Hana, dat kink.

spoilers

That didn't even stick out to me, tbh. I liked the movie a lot, but I didn't like the ending. Especially the girl's story - she starts out as free-spirited and tough, then is pressured to conform to a socially acceptable "girl" when she's in school, and the climax of her story is talking to a boy? Bah. I forget which one is Ame and which one is Yuki (is Yuki the boy?) but the boy's story was better but still... the ending? He leaves his mom when he's still a kid to "become a wolf"? :-/ The worst part was that left the mom all alone, basically, and the movie was basically about her and how hard she worked for her kids.
taotrooper: A baby pegasus eating grapes (Fantasia / I brake for grape)

[personal profile] taotrooper 2013-03-13 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I also felt disappointed about that. The kids just changed way too much and I thought their toddler personalities were more refreshing. Plus, I think it's even sadder that it all happened when they were 10-12. I know the movie mentions they mature faster, but Hana accepted a little too well that her 10 year-old is ~an adult~ now and can live alone in a dangerous forest by the mountains. Even if he was 18, no mother would stop worrying something would happen to him at any moment. That the girl opened up to a boy precisely might be bad, but it was worse to me that she had begun to change much earlier, and reject her wild nature because of social pressure. Sure, people change a lot at that age, but I think it was too extreme in both cases.

I really hated the ending, too, for the same reasons you guys enumerated. Choosing to conform to gender roles may be realistic, but it's not fulfilling. At all.

I understand the moral of allowing children to make their own choices, but I couldn't get over how terrible their choices were. Why did they need to choose 100% human life or 100% wolf? Is there not room for both? Couldn't the boy choose to live in the mountain and come down to visit his family regularly? Who the heck is he howling to, the zero other wolves in Japan?

Here's what I thought would happen -- and what I believe should have happened. When Ame's mentor was injured, he didn't have to die. Ame could have returned to his human form and taken advantage of the incredible human ability to pick shit up and the extraordinary human capacity to heal living things using medicine. He would have realized that there is something impressive about humans, their ability to use ingenuity to rise above their circumstances, something worth keeping in himself.

Yuki didn't have to stay locked-in at school. She didn't have the same limitations that an ordinary human does, and yet she was letting something as frivolous as "not having a car" keep her from playing a significant part in the story. She could have turned into wolf form and taken advantage of her speed to make it home and to rescue the family that she knew was in trouble. It would have been foreshadowed, after all, because she'd saved Ame before. It would help heal the rift between the two, and it would help her remember the exhilaration she felt dashing through the forest as a pup.

Instead, the family was torn apart, gender norms were safely confirmed, and the audience missed out on any kind of satisfying conclusion. What a disappointment for an otherwise good film.

Look, I'm real happy for you and imma let you finish, but KNOTTING is the biggest trend in fandom of all time. OF ALL TIME!

This just makes me want to watch this. I have the weirdest boner for werewolf type characters.

I saw this secret, and my very first thought was: "Oh! I haven't read any "Sterek" fic in a while..."

(Anonymous) 2013-08-28 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
While the furry idea did hit me first it was only for a moment.. What I think the director was trying to show was how she accepted him no mater what he was... Love is blind kinda thing... Its also a kinda foreshadowing letting us know that their family will be as different as the two of them are.
