Incorrect on three accounts. German is a base for many other languages, and is not complicated at all to learn. And obviously you're looking at several stereotypes if you think it's ugly.

I'm willing to bet that you're monolingual and have no grasp of the history of language.

I would disagree, but I'm just thinking of Dylan Moran's 'You couldn't speak German 'cause it's a horrible sound. It sounds like typewriters eating tinfoil being kicked down a stairs. Somebody is talking to you in German, they're saying: (accent) "Haken die haken." You think: "What is happening to you from behind and how can we make it stop? Please, go away."

Which isn't quite fair, but it's funny.

Also it isn't that hard to understand quite a few of the German words if you are English also if you know a Scandinavian language

High-five, OP! I also got motivated to learn German exactly for one character *cough*Germanyhimself*cough*. It'd been going alone nicely but I have to put it to a stop since my schedule becomes really tight. I do hope I can continue my course later tho. I feel he'd drill me for it, haha.

I've seen all the Evangelion stuff ever and I can't recall anything she did that was particularly German. Not even her name is even though she's supposedly German. I could be forgetting something... Maybe she said "Nein" at some point?

But do learn the language. It owns.

Anything that makes people give German a chance is good to me! German is gorgeous and fascinating and anyone who says otherwise is wrong.
